Sunday drive
I usually go for a ride on Sundays to chill. My ride today was very interesting because I had 2 firsts. I've seen them in pics and sitting still in the showroom of the Toy Store....an exotic dealership here in Ft. Laud....but today I saw one in motion. The Porsche Carrera GT. Man, it is gorgeous. The engine note is pure music. The guy, a mature looking fellow, put his foot in it and you know the result.....I couldn't keep up for longer looks. I read an article where this one guy complained the tranny was too quirky and he was selling his. The guy I saw today seemed to be having the time of his life.
I see lots of exotics but today was my first seeing a 575 Barchetta that was modded. I saw the car at a gas station and did a quick u-turn to get gas. It was not my brand of gas but I didn't want to act like a total jerk. I go over and look the car over. It had the sweetest staggered set up. I didn't recognizw the wheels and there was no name on the center cap. The car was lowered and absolutely clean and shiny. The owner was snobbish. He wouldn't acknowledge my presence. He pumped his gas, glanced and looked down his nose at me. That's okay, it's his right to behave anyway he wants. He fired up the car and it was obvious there were engine or at least exhaust mods. It didn't sound like a Ferrari...more like a muscle car. It sounded nice but I prefer the sweet sound exotics usually make.
Interesting though...and I know some of you may think I'm crazy but I looked back and forth at the 557 and my car parked behind. By no means is my car on the level of a Ferrari but I felt it belonged...that it could hang. Maybe not in the deep end of the pool but in the pool nonetheless.

My wife thinks it's stupid to gawk at nice cars...that I should always act like I'm accustomed to seeing and being around nice things. I try to tell her I love cars and when I see one that is exceptional, I want a closer look. I want to ask questions about it and tell the guy....nice car!
What do you all think? Is it cool to approach strangers to ask about their car?
