I still stand by my first post in this thread however. If you're looking at a driver's car then the E39 it is.

13 yr. old cars still look awesome.... In any event it seems to be tied between the GS400 and M3... It all comes down with what you want... I chose the GS because having a 4 dr. sedan with 300 HP is just plain awesome... but if you want the m3 coupe and can afford it than go with that.... i think the GS looks better visually than the M3... Yes the M3 is faster but really where ya gonna go
