Just what the SLR needs, more power and a higher price tag.
BOTTROP, Germany — The Brabus company, renowned for its outrageous Mercedes-Benz engine upgrades, has introduced a special sports tuning kit for the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren model.
To improve traction and acceleration, the kit offers SLR owners a special self-locking differential with a locking rate of 40 percent. It also includes a new fuel-cooling system, custom-made camshafts and a racing-style exhaust system, which is not certified for use on public roads. These modifications boost the performance of the supercharged V8 engine to 660 hp at 6,500 rpm. The modified SLR accelerates from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.6 seconds, and to a maximum speed of 211.3 mph.
The kit offers body modifications that enhance the aerodynamic features of the SLR, such as a new exposed-carbon spoiler to reduce lift on the front axle. For better handling, the vehicle features Monoblock VI 20-inch light-alloy wheels with six double spokes.
A combination of black and red leather and Alcantara were used to create a sporty interior atmosphere. A special ergonomically designed sport steering wheel that facilitates manual shifting of the automatic transmission is also available.
What this means to you: If you could afford the car in the first place then you could probably afford this kit too, assuming you see the need to upgrade a $450,000 car.

I wouldn't mind someone giving me one of these.....providing that I could afford the insurance and registration fees each year, that is.
