18. Chevrolet TrailBlazer — 26,841
19. Jeep Liberty — 25,994
20. Ford Econoline — 25,724

Wow, 2 Jeeps. The Ford Econoline has to be a huge profit maker. 6 Fords. 2 Chevys,
Big surprise, the Camry AND Corolla are the top selling cars. I find the new Accord to be a stellar car, sales are down again but still strong. at 6.

I fail to understand the Explorer's continuing huge popularity....especially after the fiasco with the Firestone Wilderness tires, Ford's fault or not.
There are a number of SUV's on the market, both truck and car-based, large and small, that handily outperform the Explorer in a number of areas, yet this vehicle continually trumps all competition in its field.
Perhaps it is because of the fact that the Explorer was the first mass-produced SUV to have an electronic push-button transfer case for 2WD, 4WH, 4WL, and Torque-on-Demand (AWD) combined. Even today some SUV's still retain the archaic floor-shift lever for the transfer case.

I guess the "Explorer" name has a brand to people, where they feel its superior to others. Or its just a matter of time before the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander get on that list.

Yes.....and it looks like both the Highlander and Pilot will also have hybrid versions before the Explorer does. That can only add to their totals, especially if gas makes another price-bump expected later this year.

Explorer wins on fleet and municipality sales. Also check the crazy rebatesand low financing specials on Ford and Chevy trucks. It all comes down to $$$. I'd love to see the actual household consumer purchase numbers.

It will be interesting to see how long it will take for Tundra and Titan to get into the top 20.
