Porsche Panamera Official Thread (update-hybrid debuts)
There's a bright side for Porsche with this model, they've already proven that a vehicle with an ugly exterior (like the Cayenne) can still generate big profits. But the trend might get tested in this economy.
I like it. I'm not really feeling the black marble type of finish along the dash or in the door trim, maybe a platinum look would be more sporty. Other than that, it looks good. The GPS system looks good.
Exterior and interior are what they are. If they aren't your cup of tea, and you have the wherewithall to be shopping in this range, well, you can go elsewhere.
Two things we don't know is what it will drive like and what it will be priced at. My guess is that it will drive pretty well and should have very, very good build quality reliability. Bimmer took a pretty sharp pencil to the new 7 so it didn't get much of a price increase. Rumors for price of this thing have been all over the map. That's the final part of how big a success this thing will be IMO.

People b$tch about the LS having lots of buttons, let's see what they say about this

I can't stand menus/submenus/sub sub sub sub menus.
Oh, all I need is a blind fold when I'm walking back to the car. I'll make sure to approach it from front and will never use that trunk. As a matter of fact, just weld it shut for me

That's a hatch and as much as I prefer a real trunk, I have to admit that a hatchback can be surprisingly useful. I don't want to think about running to Home Depot for sheetrock with the Panamera but I am not against it having a hatch and fold down rear seats. I am really waiting to get all the questions answered on price and drive one for myself. I thought it would be between this and the new 7 but I assume the 5GT is going to come here as well and that is probably about it for what I will be driving next.
Can't say I am overly impressed with the buttons but my hope, like most cars, is that you don't use very many to just get in and drive. At least there's no screwball iDrive/Command/MMI mouseketeer.

IMHO, my preference is a real trunk with a fold down rear seat. This is for legitimate security reasons that are pretty obvious (valuables in trunk are completely out of sight). Most high end sports sedan buyers in the US probably feel the same way.

Some may think the center console is a little busy, but that interior looks pretty cool.
