Default SLR in TODAY!

i've been going to MB of Escondido daily to wait for the SLR to show up and it finally did, along with the new CLS.

I'd post up pictures, but i dont know how to put pictures from my camera onto my computer onto this forum.

Sticker price = $465,000

Sticker price + Mark-up = $1,250,000

ALL the SLRs were sold within 15 mins of being on the market.... *sniff*

Hold up. You telling me they have a mark up of over 500grand? Are u serious?!! So, wait. The person that bought that car acutally paid over 1 million dollars? Unless that car is a REAL McLaren or a Bugatti, I wouldnt be spending over a million bucks for that.

I thought the CLS was coming out early spring?? Why are they at the stealership now??

Well...it IS called the SLR McLaren...

...and the mark-up is for real. They ALL sold out after only being only on the market for 15 mins. The car is owned by Angelo Damante, the owner/dealer principle of MB of Escondido. The guy has like 20 other rare cars.

I think the US only got like 150 of the cars. That's why they are so rare. Funny thing is CA itself has 86 or so of the cars...doesn't surprise me as we have 2/3 of all the ML's in the US in this one state with most of them concentrated in southern california.

Anyways the CLS came in because Angelo apparently has mad influence with MB Europe. I dont know how he got it, but it came in today and that thing was friggin sexy as heck.

Wait...so your REALLY telling me that there is a 500K+ markup??!! Am I hearing correctly?? MB might as well put ski masks on and hold guns...this is...how do u put it.... ************ robbery.

On that note, considering that only 150 of these baby boys are heading to the US, I can almost justify spending 600K, but no more than that. Unless I was worth more than 100 million, then I wouldnt have a problem spending the loot. Just think of it as another house.

500K...WHOA!!

I saw an SLR at my local MB dealer as well.
My cousin's a mechanic there, so I got the chance to get up close and sit in the car.

For 1.2 mill.......I'd go for the Porsche GT or Enzo anyday.
Granted the SLR is a good looking car, but it too closely resembles the regular SLs.
any the interior is very boring as well, the craftsmanship is excellent, but it doesn't have that supercar feel to it. And for god sakes, a 5-speed SLUSH BOX!!!!

When people complain that the 911 looks too much like its slightly cheaper brother (Boxster), how can MB make the mistake of making a 600K SLR look like a 90K SL.........

The SLR is nowhere near as good looking as the SL , & even for $465K without any mark-up, there are better, more attractive looking alternatives. I prefer Carrera GT & the Enzo easily over the SLR.

The SLR is supposed to be a true sports car, but MB couldn't help themselves from adding luxury to it. Comparing this thing to the Enzo, Carrera GT or Bugatti is a waste because they're all totally different beasts. From what I've read (and that's all I got to go on, haven't driven one of course), the driver doesn't feel connected to the car through the steering, and most notably the brakes. The brakes stop in an amazing short distance, but like every other modern Benz, it doesn't feel like a driver's car like any Ferrari or Porsche would. Kinda sad that people are paying well over a mill to get something worth about 400k. I don't care what anyone says, it is to be trendy and to be able to say "I got it first"
