LOL!

I personally say it with two-syllables, but will catch myself saying it with one. In my last trip to California, my brother would say it the exact same way .... but he (and my tiny nephew) usually refer to his car as the "Turbo"

Ethan's an owner, and he says it with two-syllables. 2 works for me

Let's settle this whole arguement in a nutshell

How did the late Dr. Ferdinand Porsche HIMSELF pronounce the name ?

Who is better qualified to pronounce the name correctly than the man who founded the company himself ?
If any of you guys know how he himself pronounced it, ( I myself don't ) the case is closed.

There's the question of not only which is the right pronunctiation, but which sounds more cool

Exactly, one syllable sounds way better. The few times in my life that I heard it pronounced with 2 it just sounded weird and it actually bothers me.

Thumbs down

Like it matters if you don't have a German accent anyway...

Now the real question is...is it "aww-dee" or "oww-dee" or...

And Volkswagen? Come on, people don't even try to pronounce it correctly.

I wonder how many people can actually correctly pronounce the words BMW stands for...

And Maybach...

The point is that none of this matters. English (especially the American variety) is such joke you can just do whatever you please...

i have a Porsche sales video that they sent me for the Cayenne

Stage3 is absolutely correct. The narrator and the Porsche engineers pronounce it

Por-Scha

2 syllable is incorrect. It's Por-Scha with accent on the "o"

It doesn't matter.

Communication theory is great.

I believe there was a thread not to long ago about a commercial porsche put out that was VERY cool, and the guy pronounced it porsch-uh.

Well, I'm quite suprised that it went 60/40 in favor of two syllables. I've barely ever heard it with two syllables in my 25 years on this earth. Either way, people might as well say it the way they want. I personally could never say it with 2 syllables because I'd feel weird and embarrassed. Sorry, but it's true.

Here's a couple of more to debate over;

"Cayenne" from Porsche. Before I heard it spoken I said "SY-enn", but it's actually "KY-enn".

"Pheaton" from VW. I originally said it with 3 syllables - "Fey-a-tin", It's actually "Fate-n".

I personally dislike the actual pronunciations, anyone else agree?
