Will they last 10 years? More power= more wear and tear on the engine= people more than likely driving the snot outta thier cars. The weakest link is the Tranny! Can the trannies hold up with the increase in power?

LMAO! One of the reasons the SL65 uses a 5 speed. It can handle the torque. the 6 and 7 speed can't.
Also why the IS 300 came with a 5 speed instead of the 6-speed from the IS 200.

Damn shame. I would have killed for that 2.0L line 6.

Yeah but if they slapped the 6 speed manual into the IS 300 and rushed it in 2001 instead of doing their HW and waiting until 2002, then Lexus might have a tranny fiasco like Acura.

And the IS 200 was deemed TO CHEAP for the American market. Lexus research indicated 4 cylinders in the American market have no belonging in a luxury car maker thus they dropped the 2JZ and brought it here. Honda would try convince us otherwise.

Hmmm..... so why do the Supra TT and the Skyline GT-R both have GetRag 6-speeds?

Clearly a different, buffed up tranny able to handle the power. Just that particular 6-speed could not handle the 2JZ (the one for the 2.0 I-4). that was my point.

Quite frankly, 5 speed manuals were out 8 or 9 years ago.

I agree with you about the 5-speed manuals, but why didn't Toyota just use the 6-speed Getrag? We know that it can hold the power, and its reliable

I thought the IS200 was a 2.0L inline 6?

"The Lexus IS200 boasts a 2.0 litre straight six engine and is exceptionally smooth."

Engine Capacity 1988 cc
Cylinders 6
Power 153@6200 ( bhp / rpm )
Torque 144@4600 ( lb / ft )
CO2 Emissions 231 ( g /km )

Performance
0 > 62 mph Acceleration 9.5 seconds
Maximum Speed 134 mph

Damnit, just thinking about how sick a small-displacement 6 like that is makes me want to vomit hardcore.

Son of a ******** **** *****...Granted, no one would want it, but I sure as hell would...****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
