i've heard some "urban legend" that plastic film totally messed up the car-- it started turning white, and then cracked and all that. not sure if that was tru or not.

thanx for the pix, they do look shining but to my inexperienced eyes-- i can't see nothing!! (i guess that's the point rite )

8mm is not exactly thin, so this is very interesting. especially when henry commented on "nice mod"! it just felt so ironic coz it's something visiblly untangible. i guess the visible part is where your car gets to endure chip-free a bit more

the early yrs of xpel from 3m, the material would turn yellow after couple of yrs. but i know they corrected that problem already. mine is ok so far. imho if you do the install right, it won't relaly fail on you that bad.

haha, gal, read clear 8mil, NOT 8mm. 8mm is retardedly thick, hehehe

bump from (2004!!!) to see how ROMINL's xpel is holding up.....

I'm mainly concerned with the headlight and foglight (mine are glass, not plastic) protection but curious about the paint protection as well.

hahaha i guess the big problem is i don't have any of those cars anymore

but here's what i can tell you
- my gs400, i had xpel (3m) from 2002-2007, it was still like day one. more orange peel, but the clear coat was much thicker and stronger. no yellowing, no dull
- my is300, i had xpel (3m) from 2003-2005, same thing, no problem
- my sc430, i had venture shield. first try was 2005, it went dull after a while, replaced under warranty. much less orange peel, but the clear is not as good to be as good as xpel, tree saps and such can eat into it more easily
- my ls460l, i had venture shield in 2007. until i sold the car, it was still about the same
- my gs350, i have venture shield full hood since 2007. it was replaced once under warranty coz' it got very dull. new one is much better, but again, clear coat doesn't hold up as well as xpel
