Default nos!

<<sti is definetly faster from a roll....and actually considerably faster then the evo. This is 2nd/3rd gear rolls. From a 1st gear roll the evo was actually equall...I bet gearing has to do with this. 4th gear and 5th gear roll are no competition the sti...ate up my evo.
Now handling is an entirely different story
The reason I raced a roll was to eliminate driver error or if one of us were a better driver the results would be affected.>>

hey guys i was reading on the em.net and weeping over the fact that evo lost on the sti. i guess one couldn't just hit nos right from the 1st gear right? lol. i think it'll blow up the car, gear, what not into mars right?

read on...

<<<Notice I said stock for stock. With mods, evo's are certainly quicker, the motors have had much longer time periods to develop aftermarket parts. The Sti 2.5 liter has only really been around for a year so the parts arent as readily available. Also, the Sti block wont be able to hold the same power as an evo block.>>>

stock STi will eat up stock EVO in the straight line for sure ( if they have the same driver ) but STi's handling is no match for EVO, they are playing catch up to each other. EVO= better handling and on the other hand STi has more power adv due to it's 2.5 bigger block.
this month issue of SCC has nice article about it
remember, there's no replacement for displacement

not that you can't fire Nos at 1st gear
i mean you could try to fire NOS at 1st gear if you have extra cash and another motor sitting around

Not quite sure where this thread came from or if it was meant to be a REPLY, but I'll respond. I think you summed it up pretty good talgrl. Also I think another major point for buyers is image. Both are related to proven rally cars, but seeing as the Evo is totally new to the game in the US and the STi is a big brother to the few-years-old WRX, the EVO coul be longed after a little more. About firing nitrous in first gear, it COULD be fired into the intercooler to simply cool the charged air (almost the same function as alcohol injection).
