VWs are reliable cars, they just have a few bugs in them, like window regulators, and a easily-destroyed oil pan on the VR6 engines...

I have a few VW buddies yet they seldom comment on issues with their cars. Through the net, I hear about wiring harness things, radios, the windows...I'd have some concerns with the Phaeton though.

would you believe that the lowest thing on MKIII jettas/golfs is their oil pan? lol- and you see how low VW enthusiast like their cars (practically dragging) My brother has a slammed MKIII jetta, and we have had to replace the oil pan once already... funny engineering if you ask me

I have a 2003 Wolfsburg Jetta, Have had no problems whatsoever with it, have over 10,000 miles on it already. Been a great car, alot of fun to drive, with the 1.8t engine.

The most widespread problems with VW's in general have been the ignition coils and igniters in the 1.8L Turbo engine. Now...problems with the VW service departments.....that's another matter.
