Hello how is everyone? I just wanted to put this question out there and get some feed back.
I live in Okinawa Japan and own a 1991 Aristo, one day I plan on leaving this place and going back to the states and take my Aristo with me. Can anyone give me some advice on shipping a vehicle back from Japan. I have heard so many different things that it just dosn't seem worth it.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
thanks

For the cost of shipping and legalizing it here you can buy a newer one. If it's turbo, send the front clip and take any parts you want from it before you leave.

Ditto..I agree. Even after the hassles and costs of shipping it, it would be known as a "gray market" car here and require a lot of paperwork from the EPA, DOT, and at the state and local level. Sell it, get what you can, and if you like the Aristo, put the money into a new ( or used ) GS here.Originally posted by Vegassc400

I've heard of a few people who ship cars over to the U.S., but they never ship over the whole car. Like everyone else said, they just rip out everything valuable, ship it over separately to avoid certification, and then bolt everything up to a car with a US VIN.
