I'm posting this thread on behalf of my sister-in-law. She recently acquired a 350Z. I don't know much about the topic, but apparently the G35 Coupe has a problem with it's brakes and Infiniti is replacing them or at least fixing the problem under warranty. From my understanding, this brake problem does not affect the track edition models but the models that come with the standard brakes, which she has.
The problem is that Infiniti will replace the brakes, which are the same on the 350Z (I'm talking about both base model brakes) -- but Nissan will not offer to replace or fix the brakes, which is rather strange. The dealership they take it to in Glendale, CA (forgot the name) seems to think that Infiniti is different from Nissan.
What would you guys do about this? Do you guys know much about this situation?
Brendan. I actually started a thread about this a few months ago. I think I even posted the letter and what it said. I'll see if I can find it here.
Unfortunately that is one of the perks of owning a "luxury" nameplate vs a common/regular one.
Infiniti & Nissan are definitely the same company...I worked there on a project for 16 months and Infiniti is just a brand under Nissan North America. I would suspect that the issue has to do with more than just the standard brakes if they are replacing them of G35's and not on 350Z's....they have specific engineering groups in NNA that specifically look into issues based on warranty problems/patterns/stats and based on that knowledge will offer repair on a model-by-model basis...the problem is probably just not large enough on the 350Z side to warrant a TSB or recall.
You may want to have your sister write NNA directly to inquire about the issue...has she had brake probelms with the car? And WHY didn't she get the option with brembo's?????

I'll have her do that -- and why? hehe, I wondered the same thing myself
