I have a current model Eclipse (2000) as my "beater". It's a POS. The transmission went out at 30,000 miles. Sunroof stopped working. Hate that damn car. Still have some time to go on the lease though.

What's the difference, appearance-wise between the '97GST and the '97GSX? From what I remember, they looked virtually identical on the outside. Both were turbo with a hood bulge.....the only real difference was the FWD on the GST vs. the AWD on the GSX....and even then they both had about the same ride height. The GSX, of course, handled a little better in lousy weather , but its AWD drag and weight gave up some performance to the lighter GST.
I've always thought that the GSX performed better out of the two.
Back in college, many of my friends had various Ecplise GS-Ts and it turned out that these cars, even though not slow in definition, always had trouble launching because the front wheels would often lose traction.
