So last Friday around 7am I stopped at Whole Foods grocer to us their ATM. As I come out of the grocer with cash in hand, I spot a yellow car on the opposite end of the parking lot all by its lonesome. I stare at it as I walk towards my RX (loaner) and notice it’s quite low... hmmm, what could it be? I drive towards the yellow car, and as I come closer, I can see it clearly....
I park on the RX and jump out. I look around for the Lambo owner but nobody is in sight. So I step closer and start to drool. I'm careful not to touch the car as I walk around it, starting from the passenger side. I make my way around the back, then to the driver’s side, and stretch my head closer to the window and examine the interior. Gorgeous black and yellow leather and trim. The car just flows perfectly. My eyes gaze at the seats as I dream how they must feel. Then I notice something incredible. The freaking keys are on the driver’s seat! I'm not kidding. The keys to the Lambo (along with other keys) are sitting on the freakn driver’s seat! I pull myself back from the Lambo expecting the owner to be right next to me, but there is nobody, I mean NOBODY in sight! I just can't believe what I'm seeing. I decide it's time to go back to my reality of the RX and head for downtown. Man, if I was still 16, I might have taken her for a spin!
Be glad you walked off. Could have been a setup. Police sometimes deliberately leave an unlocked macho car like this that would be attractive to thieves as a decoy, hoping that you'll jump for the bait. They do this to try and help break up car theft rings. They park and watch from nearby unsuspecting areas...behind walls, bushes, etc....
That would be a hell of a setup... A freakin Lambo? Geez, if it were a setup Im sure they could have used something a little less expensive and gotten the same results

Yeah, it does seem like a lot of car....and many police depts don't have anything like that. I'm not saying it WAS a setup....only saying that it can and does happen. Corvettes and Z-28's are more often used than Italian exotics. In my home town the Police Dept has some unmarked high-performance Z-28 SS'es they use for a number of things....from running down speeders to just the kind of setup I mentioned.
Originally posted by altaf Oh, one other thing, it had dealer tags. Don't know if that matters...
Well, if those were real dealer tags, I guess that settles that question.
Wonder what the General Manager of that Lambo dealership would think of an employee who would run off and leave a quarter-million exotic unlocked. ( I'm assuming that this car was not being test-driven by a prospective customer...the salesrep would probably be with him/her ).
Unbelievable.....some of the things we see posted in this forum.
