Thumbs down Street Racing

Having grown up in Queens, New York I know exactly where this area is out on the Island.

Notice the GS in the video.

It usually takes place at this 1-mile 30-mph-limit local straightaway off of the Berlin Turnpike between Hartford and Glastonbury. There are a few industrial businesses on either side of the road, but it's usually dead around that area. I don't remember a school along that road. Can't say anything bad about the location, being generally deserted and away from the city.

OK I know where now. They used to race on the street adjacent to the school on Whethersfield ave before they put down Jersey barriers.

Oh god ... I can't believe they only make brief mention of the closing of the only drag strp on Long Island.

We're pretty lucky here. LVMS opens the 1/4mi to the public on most Friday nights. $10 and you can race all night. It's closed right now but will reopen next month. We still have street races here but it's not nearly as bad as some other cities.

What did they think was going to happen when they close down all the drag strips? duh
