Call me prissy, I don't want a drop of oil, or other nasty fluids touching my skin or clothes.
I've done a ton of wrenching
same! i wear gloves to primarily keep the toxins off my skin and engine oil (esp used) has lots of it! i would also wear a mask to keep the stuff out of my lungs but that hinders me more than what i think is beneficial (for now, ask me in 10 years when I develop some kind of cancer, hope not of course).
case in point, i was doing an engine swap and spilled a lot of coolant. i was not wearing gloves during clean up. next day i had rashes all over my body and was all achy and fever-y! from then on, i wear gloves anytime i handle toxins.
lastly, my father has parkinsons. it's not officially correlated, but he was the type to wash his hands in gasoline after wrenching and that was during the time when gas had lead in it!
also nitrile gloves today are pretty good and i still get the same feel over my tools and fasteners - plus they are more puncture resistant and i can use the same set of gloves all day w/o replacement! i'm not a mechanic and only wrench on the weekends.
I wonder if any of the "Glove Guys" ever went fishing? Probably not, too slimy, dirty...etc.. Sounds like my first wife when talking about baiting a hook.

Yeah but I use a bow to hit the fish. Much more fun that way

Yup, I use my FIL to bait the hook. I told him this past Saturday we can't go fishing cuz he's not around to do this for his grandchildren.. True story.

No need for gloves when fishing.
I go from fish to pan to plate, EZ, 123.
