Ferrari News and Business Thread
it's even worse than that, there are ferraris and there are ferrarrrriiiisss and to buy one of the latter you need a special invite just to hand over your money... anyone can get a large mulligatawny or jambalaya if they just keep their mouth shut and step to the left haha

don't get me wrong, ferrari is great. who doesn't want to grow up owning a ferrari. however at this point i am mainly interested in their specialty cars (458 speciale, 488 pista, 599 gto, etc...) and pretty much the only way to do it is in the used market. as RNM GS3 said, i think they are generally pretty open on their regular line up of cars. of course they want to sell as many of those as possible to pay the bills.
porsche is/was like this as well, you have to get a lot of 911s before you get an allocation of the RS or specialty cars. it was particularly bad when they introduced the 918 program. over the past few years this tactic started to backfire on them. ferrari still commands a higher prestige to play this game of super elite group. however for porsche, some owners started asking the question "at this rate, why should i stay here instead of going to mclaren or ferrari?"
and that's only after you spent tremendous amount of money on their "regular" line up to show them you are worthy. and even at that point, they put a lot of restraints on you (buyer) when you get an allocation of their specialty cars. that's quite painful. just look up their black list. even for people like david li, how much did he struggle before he's finally able to order his own f80?

my ideal 2 car ferrari 'collection' would be a 458 and F12, they're both just so perfect and do everything i'd expect a ferrari to do without being overstyled or looking dated
In their game, the factory determines how much of deposit is required
I drove a Portofino M (same platform, 2 iterations prior car before starting the process)
the only person i know of that doesn't want one is actually jay leno haha... and he claims it's strictly to do with their business practices
