the analogy to being like having fixed windows isn’t valid as opening windows are needed for keypads, drive-thru’s, escaping, etc.

i also think hardly anyone opens sun/moon/pano roofs.

at least Toyota isn’t as cheap a Tesla. Toyota still puts a sunshade or that cool clouding technology. There is no reason to not have a shade of than being cheap

The reason why is cost savings. Don’t need AI lol

A roof that opens doesn’t have to be opened if you don’t want to open it, but a fixed glass roof can’t be opened if you want to open it. I really like opening the roof on a nice spring or fall day.

no idea why you brought tesla into this, but since you did… every tesla model 3 and Y has double pane windows throughout. not even lexus does that, let alone toyota. every tesla has dual wireless phone chargers. few or no hard plastics. besides the new ‘standard’ model Y, they all have heated and cooled seats. they can all enable full self-driving supervised. toyota? lol.

tesla doesn’t want opening roofs because they’re bad for weight, bad for aerodynamics, and bad for cost. the pano roofs look great. yes i wish they offered a power retractable shade. oh well.

conveniently dismissing all the benefits stated besides cost. mmkay.

but the trend will continue. because most drivers don’t care about opening the roof.

This whole “I’m so glad they took that function away” mentality makes no sense to me. I’d rather have functions and features I don’t use than have them taken away and still pay for them.

The trend will continue because carmakers realize this is a feature they can take away and save money without people deciding not to buy their cars. Not something to be celebrated.

Tesla is who started this

with Toyota and Lexus, at least they offer cloud dimming with a proper sunshade. Toyota is still being cheap by making it fixed

My household wants one that opens. That’s the biggest knock my wife had on the GX550 with the non opening pano roof.

^This is what I would expect an owner of a vehicle whose roof didn’t open would say.

Never know may have to escape through the roof if electric doors become inoperable.

We open ours.

First car I ever bought myself, I told the salesperson I want a 2dr, 5spd manual and a sunroof.

Read the comments on that video lol. Lots of people want a roof that opens and even more want a shade.

That was a huge negative for the i7 for me, at least it had a shade but the roof not opening.

only the complainers comment. you won't see comments of "i'm absolutely fine with no opening sunroof"

just like here.

LOL, okay. You can be excited for less features for the same money if you want. Me, I want features even if I don’t use them.

Although there may have been a few exceptions, most of your vehicles don't seem to be kept any longer than the lease-contract, just a few years.
