No turbos and no batteries. 🤷‍♂️
And the cope begins lol!

Umm I highly doubt there is much more a pro can do vs an engineer that developed this car. If that was the case, GM would have had a pro drive a Z06 and ZR1 to beat GT3RS time. Instead only their very top model barely beat the RS time 😂

We are talking about ZR1x that has 1,250 HP and AWD barely beating a car that is RWD with only 518hp. The ZR1 with over 1,000hp is slower.

The 992.2 GT3RS will be even faster and the upcoming GT2RS will probably set the new record at the Ring.

Mmmmmmmhmmmmm. I'm sure it will and it better for 3-4x the price, would still be quite interesting to see what the ZR1s will do with actual race drivers

GT3RS msrp is $253k

GT2RS will probably be $350-400k

So not much of a difference compared to ZR1x which should start over $200k.

Plus the Porsche will hold value much better.

I agree it would be cool to see times with a Pro. Question is why GM didn’t do that from the beginning and set the record with ZR1 and ZR1x.

Mmmmmmmm, and what is actual price on a GT3 yet alone an RS?

They’ve always done it this way. Probably to underscore the “Everyman” aspect of the Corvette compared to full-on street legal race cars like the RS models.

When the C7 Z06 launched, engineer Jim Mero ran it all day, and after retiring for the day, they handed the keys to Randy Pobst who was there to cover the launch. He was faster than Jim’s best time by his second lap, and only got better from there.

But Drew now holds the lap record for a non-pro driver in ANY car. That’s kind of a pretty cool statement.

At any rate, this should put to rest the argument that the ZR1 and ZR1X are only fast in a straight line.

Again it just underscores the different philosophies of these 2 automakers.
Porsche is all about lightweight and precision while the Vette has always been about raw power. Its all about what one prefers.

I do appreciate what the Corvette team has developed but with all the power and tech, it can barely beat a RWD car with 518hp.

How is a ZR1 or ZR1x any less of race car than a GT3RS?!
My car has A/C, Nav, Front lift, leather etc. These are not stripped out race cars 😂 Its just Porsche knows how to make them lightweight.

Barely beat?

It won on the Porsche home track and preferred game
It won on top speed by a mile
It won on acceleration
It won on grip
It won on comfort
It won on livability
It won on price

As I predicted the cope will flow. Same as when the Viper had YEARS of being untouchable by the little flat 6s

car is heavy and not enough downforce (1200# at top speed of 233mph is not a good number when compared to other cars). X is only 1.5 seconds faster than the ZR1?

The engineer has done 600 laps at the Ring over his career, hes not just some "engineer"

Are you just talking out of your *** at this point - Comfort? livability? 🤣

You are comparing a car that has all the tech - Midengine architecture, turbos, hybrid battery, awd etc but yet still can’t shake a NA Flat 6 rear engined RWD car!

Who is coping here?!

BTW the feel and engagement of the 3RS is still on a different level which go beyond the lap figures.

You, you are the one who is coping. You are rolling out excuses as to why the more expensive car lost at its own game and also loses at all other aspects of a GT car

but only 1.5 seconds faster than ZR1 which is probably a lot cheaper.

I personally would prefer the ZR1 without having to worry about the hybrid battery which by the posted times doesn’t provide much of a benefit and comes with reliability concerns.

Dont worry Porsche is very territorial about the ring time, they prep something the minute their is even the faintest chatter about a record attempt being made in the industry.

Heck next gen gt2 rs program target is sub 6:40...

Either way, nice to see America back in the ring time convo from both Ford and Chevy
