Genesis X
These Genesis concept cars are doing their job of drawing attention to the brand. Hopefully it draws consumers to consider one of their models. I'm sure their SUV's are doing the bulk of their sales these days.
Warning, what I'm about to say some might find controversial or maybe just a dumb idea. Lol
The luxury market is ruled by industry players that have made great cars for decades.
They worked hard for their brand image and people trust them at $80-100k+ cars.
I really don't think Genesis is there yet.
What Hyundai does well is heavy excavation equipment for decades.
I believe they would do ok if they put out some work trucks.
Ok, probably dumbest post I've made yet but that's where I'm at today and I can flop flop back and forth at any time because I really don't know.

$80-100k isn’t expensive anymore. That’s a well optioned Tahoe, for instance.
I would say the issue happens over $100k now. But Genesis can absolutely sell cars between $80-100k. Over $100k? Most people are going to an establish brand, even Lexus struggles.

That being said I agree. An established network where you KNOW your stuff is going to work and be supported without hassle is certainly a huge thing. Hyundai is trying to skip that part. They need to play the role of the incoming upstart which means you cant command the premium dollar. You need to have superior quality and a service center network that wines and dines and makes sure that when problems DO happen it doesn't ruffle feathers. Hyundai needs to invest in their premium product (Genesis) and not have them serviced in the same place as "normal" Hyundai. And hopefully hire technicians that appreciate that hard work is needed to build the brand.
I like the shapes of the Genesis sedans (not the above; not my mug of beer) in general but I owned a Hyundai and that experience has soured me like any other experience of negative repercussions from a dealer/brand.
I had two Hyundai/Genesis dealers near me. Both went back to Hyundai only. Now the nearest dealer is nearly an hour away. I live in a city with dealers for Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. No way I’d buy a Genesis now.
