Quote: It really is too bad KIA doesn’t offer the body on frame Mojave in North America.
the product sold very badly in the 2 model years it was here (2008,2009). the roomier, more efficient, more comfortable riding telluride outsells it by MILES.
the borrego was basically kia's attempt at an old bof explorer. even ford abandoned it and went unibody.

I’d have so much respect for KIA if they did.
no you wouldn't you'd just keep posting endless obscure recalls.

you are really wrong on the past though. People want body on frame SUVs and trucks.
yeah right. the only ones that sell in any decent numbers are huge behemoths like tahoes, denalis, suburbans, navigators, expeditions, escalades. ford/gm obviously do well with those.

Quote: People want BOF SUVs in certain segments. The family 3 row segment isn't one of them.
i figured the family 3 row is the ONLY segment where it makes sense, except for something smaller than it should be like the toyota lc / lexus lx.

Ah ok, the pics deceived me.
I thought this SUV was a big one like a Denali.

It looks big.
Still, BOF wouldn't hurt, only help. IMO ✌️ 😀

Quote: most audis are also 'fail wheel drive' based.

you happen to have the flagships which i believe are rwd based awd.
Only the A3 is FWD based lol! The rest are setup RWD style but the cheap stuff is very shared down with VW

Quote: Nope, even the A8s and Bentleys are that same oddball "longitudinal FWD" layout as everything from the A4 on up.

The only truly RWD-based car Audi has ever made (a least in the relatively modern era) was the R8, and you really could think about that as more of a FWD car with the ends swapped.

But back on topic, nothing wrong with nearly all the vehicles in this class being FWD-based, and ALL of them being Unibody rather than BOF. They're less expensive to produce and allow for better packaging of ICE powertrains. Driving dynamics is not the primary goal, so they prioritize what's important.
Same setup as your car but they just integrated the transfer case and front driveshaft to be internally in closed. If I removed your rear drive shaft that's the same setup as the non-Quattro cars and the ones that are Quattro send 70-95% power to the rear with most being 85% or greater

These are quite large, and they present BIG in person and going down the road from the huge/tall front end

I mean Highlander/Palisade style 3 rows.

Palisade isn't that big, even in this new generation it's only two inches longer than an X5. Same with the Telluride. What's remarkable is how much better its interior packaging is than comparable three-rows, you need something the size of a Grand Highlander which is 5 inches longer to match it.

you are going to claim the A4, A5, A6, Q3, Q5 are not FWD based?

It's a bit complicated, the engine sits above the front axle so they have the weight balance of a FWD car, and in the cheap base model forms they're only available as FWD because of where the transmission is located. But when you actually have Quattro, they send more power to the rear wheels (60/40 split), though that has changed with the latest models featuring Quattro Ultra which is an on-demand AWD system like Haldex that remains FWD until there's slip.

That sounds like FWD "based", no?
