I agree. I think they are great looking. I have a neighbor who has a white one. Not necessarily the best color for the Panamera IMO but the car itself looks very good. He has white wheels on it though which don't do it any favors.

 

You can find a bad angle for any car in a picture. In person I think they look great...I see a lot of them

 

The Panamera is huge. Clearly in the E segment large luxury class.

Mid size is the IS, 3 Series, G70 etc.

 

Eh.....no it's not that big in person. I agree it's midsize these days, the IS/3 segment are small cars

 

Panamera is a large/full size luxury sedan. I've always thought they looked huge in person.

 

The Panamera is actually shorter than the new 5 Series, it's still very much a midsize sedan. Its main rival from Mercedes is not the S-Class but the AMG GT 4 Door which is based on an E-Class.

European classifications are different from the US but the Panamera is right in line with the E, 5, and A6 dimensionally.

 

They look fine but they don't stay true to the concept hence why some angles look weird.
Nothing beats this in terms of front-end design and overall proportions

True. But S Class comes in short wheel base outside of the US. panamera is almost the same size as the short wheelbase S class

 

S-Class SWB is 5 inches longer and its wheelbase is almost 7 inches longer. It's not even close.

The only S-Class that's shorter than the Panamera is the coupe from the last generation, and only by exactly 1 inch.

I agree that the Panamera isn't that great looking of a car. The second gen is much improved, but it does nothing for me. The first gen is just tragic. Not sure if they had the same designer, but I see alot of similarities between the 996 911, the first Cayenne, and the first Panamera. Lots of swoopy lines and bad proportions.

 

To me the pana looks like a cayenne that was lowered too far, and it's just too small for a "serious" car.

AFAIK, there simply is no international agreed standard definition for front mid-engine, hence we must not be so petty and small minded with little details.

 

There is no agreed upon standard that was my point. Thats why I challenged Striker to please provide us with the standard he is using to say Lexus and reviewers are wrong (it doesn't exist)

The point is that the engine is placed farther back for handling and the result is a tighter cabin.

 

when did you drive one, and 'nice' depends on what you want.

the panamera is a sporty luxury sedan. the non-amg s-classes are not.

the most capable panamera setups are astonishingly good with wide ranging abilities, but likely still not near as cushy on bad roads as an s-class.
