Looking for a new CUV
She would, but she doesn't like the gas Pacifica (they rented one for a week, and I agree the Odyssey drives nicer) and doesn't want to pay for the hybrid.
I suggested the Carnival which they are going to look into.
The point of the comment was to highlight that I shared his experience having issues with there being any Toyotas on the ground to even test drive. Dumb move on Toyota's part IMO.

Yeah I see nothing so compelling about Toyota offerings I'm going to deal with the lack of inventory and the attitude of the dealers, markups etc. I'm in NJ now and my sister in law is looking for a new minivan, she wanted the hybrid Sienna but can't even find one to drive...so cross that off the list she's going to get another Odyssey.
I’m visiting New York and I see Sienna Ubers everywhere!! Almost every taxi is a RAV4 hybrid. Also got the chance to ride in the backseat of a Model Y. While riding in the hybrid Sienna is where I actually paid attention to the 4 cylinder engine and the drivers were flooring it weaving thru traffic. Each time the radio was completely off so I was able to notice it. When moving along in slow moving traffic, it ran off EV mode. One driver had his energy meter on the radio screen so I could see whenever we were in EV mode or hybrid mode. Sienna is spacious but to get back on topic, I would take a look at a RAV4 hybrid XLE trim if it’s in the budget. Solid, reliable, efficient, low maintenance vehicle.
Let's hope this dealer doesn't play any games.
Well I just got back from the Hyundai dealer and picked up a 2025 Tucson SEL Convenience model, black exterior with black interior. I probably should have gotten silver or dark gray since it would hide scratches more but it has black cladding which I can't stand and it stands out too much for my liking on a silver car. I know, seems like I am getting the car for me but my son didn't even go to pick up the car. Crazy but he just seems indifferent about the car. I think I may need to get a DNA test.
Back to the dealer experience, everything they said was true and they stuck to our verbal deal. I have to say it was one of the best experiences I've had at a dealer. They got me the car in the color I wanted from another dealer like they said and my payment was exactly what we agreed on based on the numbers I input into my lease calculator. I even brought in my computer to make sure the numbers were right and they were, no BS at any time. I will say the one benefit is that somehow the residual went up last week by 5% which I have never seen done within the same month. When I was on the phone with the dealer last week it was supposed to be 64% and while we were talking numbers he told me it just changed to 69% which surprised him. I checked on Edmunds and sure enough, they changed it compared to what Edmunds said a week earlier (but the lease cash also went down $500).
To speed things up I filled out the application online and texted my insurance information earlier in the day so I was only at the dealer for about an hour and a half including me checking out the car. When I went to the finance office I was expecting the usual shenanigans about selling dealer packages but the finance manager and I were talking cars and he could sense I was a no BS guy and he just asked me if I knew of the packages they offer (wheel/tire, dings, etc.) and I said i did and I said I wasn't interested in any and he said no worries, just sign here acknowledging I didn't want any. Simple as that, no BS pressure, etc. First time ever where I wasn't asked/pressured/guilted into getting some sort of package. My wife dropped me off and even she asked me when I got home how I got out of there so quickly.
Only thing I noticed were two slight dings on the drivers door and they were very slight. No problem, they gave me a voucher to bring my car back in to get those taken care of on a Friday when the ding guy is there.
I drove it home and all in all for the price, it is a really nice car with leather and a sunroof. I will be happy to be in this car for many days while I teach my son to drive and he gets his 50 hours in before December. This is my first Hyundai and I hope my experience with this car is a good one and if it isn't I will report back. The nice thing is my local Hyundai dealer just moved into a newly constructed building last week for just Hyundai and it is nice. They told me they were moving but I forgot and went to the old building they were located in and they made that one a Genesis only dealer. I feel this may help them in the long run but it is interesting that Hyundai got the newly constructed building vs. the Genesis getting it.
It's dark out so I will try and post some pics tomorrow.
