SLS with gulling doors and the 6.2 NA?? There's the "Exotic" MB I want. I can still hear the rumbles of those driving by as we would walk along Sunset Boulevard living in LA. That 6.2 sounded American.
don't forget though the SLR uses the most extreme version of the M113! no other version of that engine is dry sump or uses two intercoolers... plus, it's got front exit side pipes!

If I remember correctly the other supercar that came out around the same time, the Porsche Carrera GT, used carbon ceramic clutch disc in addition to the ceramic brake discs. It caught a lot of owners off-guard because they were burning them up and had hefty bills when they had to replace them. I think these are all called "First World Problems" LOL.

haha yes the Carrera GT used some kind of anti-stall mechanism iirc, pretty sure the procedure is to use no gas pedal whatsoever until the clutch pedal is fully released

funnily enough the CGT continues to appreciate and receive further and further praise from basically every car enthusiast with a platform and an audience, while the SLR has become "cheap" to buy in comparison... it's reputation for having some of the worst service bills of all time, as well as its "confused identity" no doubt playing a big part in that

Wasn't aware it's M113 powered. Still passssssssss!

My SL is way better looking (IMO at least), and brake jobs don't cost $100,000. Lol.

I wouldn't want them with how much the maintenance costs.

Usually higher performance --especially German cars-- have quite good brakes to begin with.

Come to think of it, doesn't the SLR already have "Air Brakes"? Seems like the designers really wanted to stop the car quickly haha.

the SLS is also like 1/50th the headache to own as well lol

possibly more than anything i'm just a fan of the late 90s - early 00s era that spawned the SLR... the video games it was featured in, the celebs you'd see driving one (paris hilton especially lol), the successful mclaren-mercedes partnership in F1 back when mclaren could win a race, jeremy clarkson driving this on top gear when i had just discovered top gear and really started to become the car enthusiast i am today, etc...

the SLR of course also shares the same basic engine, transmission, and SBC braking mechanism as my E55 so i'm always gonna feel some sense of connection with it

Oh I get it....

And yeah, that SLR was was unreal to maintain haha. Part of why it was sort of a fizzle.

Paris Hilton (vomitttt) had one and it was all over the magazines or whatever that she financed it instead of paying cash.

Not exactly a flattering view of the SLR lol. That front always reminds me of a shark.
