I don't wish any bad on BYD but I already have my favorite brands for now and the brands I'm rooting for, so....

I'm wishing them success, somewhere else. Lol

Tesla sales also falling. And EV sales in general across the board.

not sure why people think the same growth and increasing market share could be sustained year on year. People who wanted a EV would have got one already. The remaining just don’t really care what the drivetrain is, they just want best utility or amenity for the money.

Tesla also had high China sales in March.

It is the usual cycle that depends on when is Chinese New Year.

Yeah, they have different holiday seasons and stuff from what I hear.

Also, maybe they are running or not running incentives at any given time that may or may not include certain brands & models made by different mfgs?

i think ev sales growth will be challenged UNTIL it's undeniable that they're cheaper to buy and own AND are convenient. obviously for MANY they're not considered convenient enough due to range concerns and recharging speed, although clearly that situation is changing for the better.

when there's better cost/performance (charging/range, not speed ) ev's will take off.

another possibility is even greater govt 'giveaways' aka incentives, aka, the govt spending/redistributing OUR money while claiming how magnanimous they are.

The government is too busy getting into debt funding wars. EV incentives are pretty much disappearing, and even California has pulled back on incentives, making them income constrained. Once EV'S get cheap enough and people actually try them, they will sell themselves. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my EV'S

Incentives are being shifted to plug-in hybrids even if they have a tiny battery.

Feels to me like China and the U.S. are on a collision course when it comes to EVs only a matter of time before the likes of BYD are building cars in Mexico, and will try and build them in the United States. Of course the U.S. government will threaten import taxes if they do it China will retaliate. That never ends well.

I have a lot to say on this subject, but it delves way too much into politics, so there's that

Doesn't China already have tariffs for cars imported?

I'm talking about excessive, retaliatory taxes a trade war. Tesla makes cars in China and sells them in other markets clearly China is not overtly trying to keep foreign companies out. Will the U.S. be as accommodating? Remains to be seen.
