Land rover has always lacked function inside and has some very odd design decision, I've never been in one that feels correct for it's era....always feels one gen behind. I think a lot of the money that would otherwise be spent on truly exceptional ergos, materials, attention to detail etc is spent on the off road section that people never use.

The new one is better than the L405 in that there is no longer cheap plastics where you can easily interact with them. I like it but it still has that "one gen old" feeling to me vs something like an X7 or Q7

@Striker223 are these things a nightmare to work on? Throttle House had a hilarious review of one they bought somewhat recently. May have been an LR4 though.

Lease only vehicle I'm assuming?

Personally, I am all for the one gen old feeling...Q7 is ancient, the X7 feels modern but I don't see how it feels any more modern than the RR.

Thats the best interior from a quality standpoint I have been in below $200k, easily.

Perhaps so, but it is also subjective.....some recent Volvos may (?) give it a run for the money.

Not even close. Quality isn't subjective, something is either high quality or its not. Styling is subjective

So I've bought X350/51 XJs, L322/405 Range Rovers, F Types and now my Defender and none of them have let me down. Had a rattle in the F Type, fixed during a regular service visit, and an inexplicable build error where the clear sight mirror on my X351 XJ was on the build sheet but hadn't been actually fitted (plus the tires were still at shipping over-inflation levels on delivery) but other than that they only ever see/saw the dealer for servicing. So my sample size of one is just that, but my many statistically unreliable JLR products have all been great. The only car in recent years that actually left us stranded has been one of our statistically reliable Lexuses (and that ended up being nothing major, but we did have to get it towed to the dealer to fix the issue).

awesome the range is ballin as hell! it's gotten a bit too blingy and function over form for me after the L322 model but i can't deny they've done a great job establishing serious road presence with the full range rover

so would this replace the benz or the minivan? also don't even try for the LWB, looks ungainly and out of proportion

.
Non-integrated screen just doesn't scream expensive to me. And the A/C control dial looks very ordinary.

It would replace the Mercedes. The LWB looks fine, the additional legroom in the rear would be important to me.

The controls feel very high quality.

No they are totally fine, a little bit of a pain to get on a lift for the sport and full range SWB but nothing is particularly hard.

fashion is pain! the design is clearly meant to be the standard wheelbase, the extra length added in only the rear door area without changing anything else just spoils it

easier to maneuver through tight squeezes, more parking spaces become available, increased fuel efficiency, less likely to be damaged from driving over something... many good reasons to avoid the LWB

I don't really know what ostentatious means but it sounds good so yeah, what he said. Haha

Yeah, they could've done a little better job on that, was thinking the same thing.

ok i'll be honest that does happen to be a particularly good pic of the LWB with the cool black wheels lol... but here's one right off the car's wiki article, that back door just looks so out of place

Hmmm this angle make it look different

Now I have to think about this.

I'm leaning toward PASS but I have to sit on it a little while. Lol

It's without a doubt the best single SUV out there, the overall capability package is unrivaled. It gets beaten by more focused SUVs in their respective areas but if I could only have a true single car garage I would have no choice but to have one.

Nothing else can do nearly everything and do it as well across the board. That said I probably won't ever have one since I would rather have the more specialized cars for each job
