General Car Conversation 2024 - part 1
Hey! I just bought a 2024 Lexus IS300 AWD and I am absolutely in love with it. Big upgrade for me as a 22 year old going from my 2016 Scion tC to this! After owning the car for about 3 weeks now I do have 1 complaint, the remote start anti--theft feature. I live in southern Ontario in Canada and we get a somewhat harsh winter here so the fact that my new car was going to be equipped with remote start was something I was very excited about. However I realize now that once you remote start your Lexus, it will shut the engine off immediately after unlocking/opening the door. I have read that this is a safety feature but my only concern is that every time I remote start my engine, I am going to be doing twice the amount of wear and tear on the starter. Is this something that I should really be concerned about or is it really no big deal given the Lexus reliability? Thanks!
First off welcome to CL! Yes that is an unfortunate and bizarre "feature" of all Toyota/Lexus remote starters. You don't really need to worry about extra wear of re-starting an already warm engine. Your IS should also have Automatic Start/Stop, so it will be doing that on its own dozens of times per drive anyway.

Raining today, I went out just to have fun with the monowiper in the SL.
That may be one of my favorite things, it's still state of the art even today. It swipes so fast you barely can follow it and gets more of the window than regular wipers.
That's 40 year old tech, wowwwwwww. Still way ahead of everyone else with the wipers until they canceled them.
The auto-wipe function works perfectly, better than LX which is just about perfect. LS430s are good about 85% of the time but can get confused.
