Or do something so that it doesn't apply to you. Aka have enough $$$$ that you can drive whatever you want and swap whatever you want in to the chassis you want

Just have skills to get enough money to enable you to drive whatever you want or direct skills to enable it. It's why you see those insane restomod type builds that use an older bod/chassis and everything else is bleeding edge.

Right, but it's just stupid when the economy gains are basically nothing. All you're doing is driving around a vehicle with a way more complex engine under the hood under tremendous stress. Like I said, go over on an oil change at your own peril with motors like these. What people (other than on here) don't wait around a little while to actually do it? I'm one, and have taken my cars way over before. I just do it when I get around to it.

Our LX other than being too small for a family compared to competition (which doesn't matter to a 2 person family) it is basically a 9.5/10 vehicle overall. It has 130k on it now, I would be sitting on one butt cheek right now permanently if I had a truck with a high stressed motor like that into 6 figure mileage. With the 5.7 V8, it might as well be 13k miles it has on it bc I know it will never stop and it performs great. I wouldn't want a 3.0 I-6 with 510 horsepower at 130k miles, that's for damn sure. It's not going to just be me who feels this way.

Large engines are pretty much gone, but I don't think GM will stop with them, for their trucks. That's all I'd buy from them anyway.

Trust me, they plan for people being stupid. The brands that don't do so are the Germans and THAT is why they have a bad rep, moronic owners who ignore the instructions and treat them as suggestions..

I own a 14 Durango Citadel 5.7 Hemi AWD. Google the "Hemi TICK"! May be why. I have not had the problem on my 5.7 Hemi.

Its just that simple lol

If it were that simple to achieve that level of success, everybody would.

Its not just for fuel economy gains...its taxation in other countries, carbon credits etc.

I have no sympathy for people who don't maintain their cars. Just don't go over the oil change interval.

They will, eventually.

Sorry, but unless I am really wrong I don't think you're so successful that you can go out and commission a custom made vehicle with a bespoke powerplant etc. You're not Jay Leno lol

No but I built one myself, hence why I said make it happen. It's also not that expensive to have a car made as a one off like that, only 250-400k and I have more than that in my guns so I totally could if I wanted it badly enough. I had more fun learning it myself though, same reason I like learning how to make custom firearms but I will admit I do just buy those more often than make them since it's more like your stance on cars....I want the newest, best items with full support so I don't have to think about it.

Cars on the other hand just don't strike me as worth dropping 100k+ on anything

What vehicle did you build yourself? I don't see any custom built or engine swapped vehicles in your signature nor have you ever told us about any such vehicles.

Anyways not everybody has the capability to learn to do that...not everybody has the time in their lives they can devote to doing that or learning to do that either. You will find as you get older and have kids etc, the most valuable thing becomes time. Would I be capable of learning to do what you can do? Yes. Do I have interest in doing so, or the time to devote to doing so even if I did? No.

"Only $250,000-$400,000" lol, do you have any idea how few people on the earth can afford to buy a $250,000-$400,000 car without having that consume an unreasonable chunk of their resources? The vast, vast majority of us are stuck buying what manufacturers make for us to buy...so we're best to just accept what the industry is manufacturing and find happiness in it.

The 2003 ram, it has a fully one off driveline. The engine is of my design and all parts other than the block were custom one off made, it was about 40k in parts and machine work for the engine alone. No maker made what I wanted so I simply did what was needed to make it myself, I wanted a 4x4 truck that was able to outrun a 2016 Z06 and retain true turn key function and have no odd requirements outside of very specific oil. I also wanted to base the engine off the bore center of the CSB engine family and use supercharging to hit the 800+ hp mark, I started when I was 19 and finished it at 23. I have left it on the back burner since I bought a house as a 700k house is a hell of a dept that I want gone as fast as possible, I will return to the truck to finish the cosmetics once I'm done with the house since I want all body panels to be replaced with carbon fiber to lower weight as much as possible but the cost is around $60k for everything I want done since that cost is unavoidable. I can't make the space for molds/it will still cost a lot even if I am the one who makes the panels.

I spend/spent a lot of time leaning and it's why I don't have kids yet but then again I'm not even 30 yet so I'll have time for that later, my idea of relaxing is to work or learn more on topics I want to. I don't watch TV etc, I just hone skills. These forums are about the only social media I participate in at all and it's mostly a biproduct of learning about cars I am thinking about buying to learn particular system types. The LSs were great for learning about a LOT of stuff, the 460 in particular was very good

And yeah, you are right. I have always had a lot of time thanks to the 3 generations of people who preceded me, I've never really had to concern myself with anything thanks to them. However I'll always admit that I had an unfair advantage.

Yes but tonnnnnnns of people do and you know what I mean. I always let the light bug me for a good couple of weeks before I take the cars in. Never had a problem in my life. I've gone way over on my 430 tons of times and that engine won't ever stop.

It's not toward anyone or anything, it just is what it is.... things are different now. Can't do stuff like that anymore..

The used car market is about to seriously change in lots of ways over the next 10 years but that's a whole new thread.

I was the same way in my 20s, but what I was doing was working and building my business, that was 7 days a week and didnt leave me time for much...including working on cars.

I'm glad you realize that...

A few weeks isn't going to hurt anything, the real issue is mileage. If you are consistantly thousands of miles over an oil change you will have issues, even in the LS430.
