Apple maps displays on my HUD and also on my odometer screen. But I use Waze 99% of the time. Sometimes I’ll run Waze and google maps and follow whichever get me there faster.
Agreed. I had been a stalwart Waze user since its inception. It was WAY better than Google maps in every aspect. About 12-18 months ago, it started "getting stupider". I don't have a better way of describing it. Gradually switched to Google Maps, and all those problems went away. I assume that's their strategy.
When Waze tried to get me from downtown LA to the San Gabriel Valley through only local streets it lost my trust. Despite the traffic on the 10 and 110, I would've gotten there at least 15 minutes faster vs. sitting in local traffic
When I had to take the Rivian in for service, it also insisted on going through Manhattan during Friday rush hour traffic instead of taking the Verrazzano through Staten Island.

I absolutely dislike Waze. Using it in SoCal, it's a disaster. I just stick with either Google Maps or the onboard maps in my Y....basically Google maps

trying to guess why you think waze was 'wrong' is debatable.
maybe there was a shooting on the 10/110. maybe the verrazzano bridge had something going on too, or just on either side of it.
of course maybe waze was being stupid too. the reality though is we have nowhere near the data available to us that waze, etc., has, even if waze doesn't draw the right conclusions from it.
i remember a scene from a book where two robots are 'talking' silently, and a human walks up and asks a question. the book says that in the time between the human having asked the question and the robots replied, the robots had exchanged more information than the sum of all human knowledge. i've never forgotten that.
in other news, i took the car in to the dealer to have slight steering wheel vibration around 60-70 looked at, especially when the tires were relatively cold. i figured worth taking the time to have them take a look.
the advisor said there were 2 recalls that might apply, and a software upgrade. i said i'd likely done the software upgrade if it was the october update, but i wasn't trying to second guess them!
amirza - including this hear in case it applies to yours too. one was apparently a fuse check. and nice they did the balance for free.
i'd asked about a loaner but was told they were all out, and the dealer service waiting room was certainly packed, so i took their courtesy shuttle to my office which is only about a mile away!
i have to say, the service side, while not as 'fancy' as a lexus dealer, is certainly super polite, responsive, and customer-focused.
they are the genesis dealership too but they're half way through building a massive new genesis dealership building next door.

Thanks, so far I haven't experienced this issue, but I will double check next time I drive the car. Good luck getting a loaner from the Hyundai dealership
I think voice commands/Siri is no different than having a conversation with a passenger. I don't consider it unsafe, eyes still on the road and hands on the steering wheel while you talk
I've been using Apple Maps more than Google Maps. I only use Google Maps now when I'm outside the US
Steve mentioned earlier that you need internet signal for mapping to work. Just want to add that you can also download offline maps for when there is no internet signal. I've done this when I drove from Barcelona to Lourdes, France. Lost internet in the Pyrenees but I was prepared and had offline maps installed.

yes, minor issue and probably more noticeable on mine with the 20's instead of the 19's. i wasn't looking for it, but didn't notice any vibration this morning so i assume they solved it!

ha, well dealers vary of course and i assume one will have to time it right, but as i said, no issue given how close my office is, i could walk it.

Apple Maps had a rough start but it's evolved into IMO arguably one of the best navigation apps, and when it's on a big screen with CarPlay it's certainly the best from a look and feel perspective with 3D map rendering, excellent visual transitions as you approach junctions, exits and more. In my case it also now has a direct integration with my truck so it knows your actual SOC, real time efficiency, preferred networks and more and it will work out SOC on arrival at destinations and route you via chargers if necessary.
another thing i found apple maps can do which i've always been irked that google maps can't is navigate to a contact.
with google maps on my android phone before if i brought up assistant and said 'navigate to tom smith' (who is in my contacts) it won't have a clue.
with apple maps if i say 'siri, navigate to tom smith' it comes right up.

Wait, I'm sure Google maps does that, and I'm sure I've done that before
