Another Vacation Rental: Tesla Model 3
Awesome review @bitkahuna !! Unbiased and fairly objective!👍👍
Regarding your point about the "extra screen real estate" on the refreshed S/X because of the screen in front of the driver - it enables moving around other windows such as music, camera view etc to share that space with the maps.
Obviously I don't have a refreshed S, but I prefer just having a massive map view on the screen.

Good review. The Teslas that I have rented from Hertz are always "locked down" for the driving experience - always in "Chill" mode, and always on "Creep" (instead of "Hold") - which is different when at a stop as you don't have to ever touch the brake pedal when on "hold". I personally love one pedal driving, sounds like you liked it as well. Would your rental come to a complete stop without you touching the brake or did you have to use the brake pedal at a stop light for example?
Question Tesla owners:
when on a road trip and it suggest you stop for a 10,15,20 min recharge, is that charge session to full or is that like throwing $20 of gas in your tank to get you to your destination or next charge stop?

my bad I must have read your post wrong. But the car needs a way to communicate with the key. The same has to happen with bmw plastic key. But bmw has a better sense for its place. The tesla’s spot is an odd place to leave it there.
Usually I have to go to the bathroom anyways, so I would have made those stops anyway, and one of them would have been a mandatory fueling/bathroom stop. I lose about total maybe 25 minutes over taking my Sienna
I fricken hate Hertz to the core. If you guys remember, back in Aug when I took my Polestar in for service, Volvo Palo Alto set me up in a Hertz rental. I returned it the same day (picked it up Aug 23rd, returned it the same day). Well, they have been calling me since asking me where the car is. Finally got a call back from Hertz last week saying it was all settled. This morning I get texts and emails from Hertz "Overdue" department LoL! I'm surprised they haven't had me arrested yet
You don't have to leave the key there. You just tap it behind the cup holder while you're foot is on the brake, then you can put it back in your pocket. It's only used to "start" the car, then it's no longer needed unless you exit the car

and yes, it slows to complete stop with foot off gas pedal. we rarely used the brake pedal at all on the whole trip. typically only if someone pulled out unexpectedly in front or we realized there was a stop sign we hadn't seen until a bit late.

Yep, you can easily get two, and maybe three, people in the frunk. It's cavernous. On higher trims there's also a storage box under the rear seats that will also accommodate a large amount of whatever it is you're keeping out of sight.
