I will say it was extremely annoying that the third row didn't have headrests. I hated falling asleep back there on road trips.

Not to mention dangerous. Image getting rear ended in those seats. RIP your neck.

The Excursion, though, is so big and heavy that the structure of it alone would tend to mute any impact some. This is not a cheap light Pinto with zero protection in the rear.

Yes, a few (very few) passengers cars and crossovers do, but, for the most part, true spares, today, are confined mostly to work-trucks and off-road SUVs. And, on even some of them, it is an option LOL.
