Quote: You need a protective coating or film for the lens to prevent UV future damage.
Id just assume replace them. She never drives it at night but they are super ugly

Quote: i don't see a sig in your posts (which i don't think gets added on mobile?) but ok!

there's nothing to drain it.

about the LSs blowing radiators... sounds crazy. could it be somehow to do with how you drove them vs. the jeep?

a good friend of mine drives an es350 and loves it because he has NO interest in cars. he is a clear lexus target customer.
Oh that makes more sense lol! I forgot the phones won't display it....I use desktop mode almost exclusively.

I don't know why the LSs do that, it's a known thing and the 4th gen also has a known issue with the coolant expansion tank nipple breaks off insanely easily. It's just a thing with the type and I knew about it going in reading about them before I bought them. Still surprised me both of mine went

Quote: Looks like new headlight housings are about $500 total for both. Not sure if its worth it...
Have a mobile detailer come out and sand them, it's $50 a headlight here so can't be more than $100 for you

You'd be surprised. The original coating that prevented the yellowing is gone, but it can be easily brought back to a crystal-clear shine with a little polish work. Thereafter a couple of minutes every 6 months or so should keep them looking pristine. With your penchant for detailing, should be right up your alley. A small-pad orbital polisher would make it a crazy quick job.

Issue is the original coating was already removed...thats exactly how I did it the first time lol. I think these the plastic itself is yellowed.

I would just buff it once to get rid of the yellowing and put PPF on it for cheap so I wouldn’t have to keep doing it every six months.

I love seeing win, but I will be honest that I am surprised. I guess the ranking is including the cars on the used market or historical performance. I think that, while Lexus isn't on top of new cars for sale, they are still a go-to brand just because of their reputation. That's not to say they're not good.

Quote: there’s really not a lot of point basking in the glory of the statistical reliability of cars that aren’t on your driveway.

The only thing that matters is how your specific cars hold up. And as an owner of cars at both extremes of the statistical reliability spectrum, our statistically unreliable Land Rover has been flawless (as have our Jags/Range Rovers for that matter) whereas the only car that’s ever left us stranded in recent years has been one of our statistically reliable Lexuses…
No, actually, this is the exact opposite of the truth. How your specific car holds up is the only thing that matters TO YOU. For me as a reader, a survey with a sample size of 1 is absolutely worthless guidance, nothing but an anecdote. What matters in helping me choose smartly is the statistical average of what's happened to everybody. Renouncing statistics itself as a non-science doesn't make it so.

I took a couple of semesters of statistics.

Statistics can be used to prove or disprove anything. Lol

If done right, statistics can be a useful tool.

If done with bias and agenda, it can be used to deceive while looking legit.

I wonder what defines “luxury” in this “study”. I saw this article and the order for premium brands are almost reversed.

Agreed. This is one of the most meaningless automotive lists I've ever seen. That's why I don't base most of my automotive opinions on what I read, but on my actual ownership, review, or test-drive experience. Having said that, there are some publications and Internet/You-tube reviewers I have a lot of respect for.......in particular, Alex Dykes.
