Used EV prices are collapsing — and Tesla is the reason why
EV prices are collapsing more than those in the overall used car market
"This week’s government inflation data showed used car prices were falling and likely stabilizing to levels just above pre-pandemic pricing. It seems prices for used electric vehicles, however, are falling even faster"
“A year ago, used EV prices were on the upswing, rising faster than the average used car,” said iSeeCars executive analyst Karl Brauer in the report. “Electric vehicle prices are now falling at nearly 10 times the rate of the average used vehicle, reflecting a clear shift in EV supply and demand.”
^^ not really surprising. most ev owners are likely on their first ev of course, and it will be interesting to see how they feel about the depreciation when they go to get their next one.
obviously affluent buyers don't really care.
Also used EV prices were ridiculous in 2022. With Tesla cutting new prices pretty dramatically this year, used prices were bound to fall at least as much

With so many Teslas being sold I'm expecting there to be TONS of used ones showing up for sale used.
Mostly in black or white tho. Lol
Only saying that cuz that's most of them I see driving around but I did see a unicorn red one yesterday.
As an early adopter, I assumed our car's value would drop like a rock. Heck, in Dec 2018 everyone knew Tesla would soon go belly up, right?
Otherwise we woulda bought stock. Sheesh.
