Tesla Business and News Thread
Edit: if you have a Tesla, and you approach a flashing red light, just look at the screen in your car. You'll notice that the car "sees" the flashing red lights because they'll be flashing on the screen in the car instead of showing a solid red.
FWIW, we also have 3 sets of flashing yellow lights on the same road outside of my neighborhood. The Tesla will slow down, assess what is going on, and then proceed with caution. It's very impressive.
This is definitely not the case in my personal experience, and this holds true even going back 12-15 months of FSD versions. My neighborhood has a flashing red light about 1/2 of the time each day (when a nearby school is not in session) and a flashing red light every day all day from June-August (when school is fully out for summer). I've tested this multiple times exiting my neighborhood and the Tesla recognizes that it's a flashing red and it will handle this situation appropriately. I've never once had to take control of the car in this situation.

Here is an example of it happening albeit on 12.3
I have seen the issue across the forums and reddit. I have seen new reports of it breaking red lights on the latest version but haven't looked into it.

The exiting from my neighborhood is actually a very impressive feat for FSD. In addition to the flashing red lights, you have to advance beyond the painted white line on the pavement indicating where you should stop for the light in order to properly see oncoming traffic from your left (due to some bushes). The FSD does this perfectly - the car literally inches up until it has a clear "view" to the left. Then, it will make a left turn out of the neighborhood, even with a flashing red light.
I wonder what makes it seemingly have issues in other scenarios but not in mine.
I just checked the app and I'm currently on 12.3.6. I have no idea what version of FSD the car had on it when I bought it in Dec 2022, but I can tell you I have personally had 0 issues with flashing red lights the entire time I've owned the car. As I mentioned, there are flashing lights all around my neighborhood. There have been aspects of FSD that were not great when I first got the car, but this particular issue has never been a problem.

Have no idea how it or any other self driving will get hand gestures but don't think it's an impossible problem to solve.
That's already 5 revisions behind. What actually matters is comparing FSD over time not a cherry picked snapshot or issue. That's what makes me very bullish on Tesla if you feel differently then act accordingly.
Yeah I've read a stop sign along with the flashing red usually helps. I'm sure it works sometimes...maybe more times than not. It just needs to be pretty much perfect. It's got flashing yellow / orange lights down for the most part so I don't see why it won't get flashing reds down soon.
