Keep in mind that these are the older Model S/X battery packs. The newer LFP battery packs have 3,000 charge cycles compared to 1,500 for the older battery chemistry, and can be charged to 100 percent. Next year these will be in mass production

Are these actually for sale or are they still pre-production test trucks?

I'm pretty sure they're pre-production test trucks.

Mr Musk will make a big deal of actual deliveries to the first customers and they'll be a big event.

Oh yeah, that's for sure! When the Model 3's first started deliveries, Elon actually showed up when people came to pick them up in Fremont. My friend has a selfie with Elon when he went to go pick up his

"Tesla is set to transport Model 3 “Highland” sedans to showrooms in China, putting them on display for customers, later this month, a new report from Bloomberg claims.Speaking to anonymous sources that are familiar with the matter, the report indicates that Tesla is “nearing the completion of display vehicle manufacturing” at the Gigafactory Shanghai plant in China. Tesla plans to transport these vehicles to showrooms in the country “in the latter part of August.”

Mass production is slated to begin soon thereafter and ramp up through China’s National Holiday that starts on September 30"

Tesla adjacent news. I'm going up to the Catskills Mountains next week with the Rivian and about 15 minutes away from the hotel is a Tesla supercharger w/ the magic dock. Going to give it a try

Tesla sues two former employees over ‘Tesla Files’ data leak

Tesla confirmed that it is suing two former employees over the large data leak to a German media that was dubbed the “Tesla Files.”

In May, Handelsblatt, a German media company, published a series of reports that it called “Tesla Files, which they claim was based on 100 Gb of data from “company insiders.”

The data that was leaked to the paper included information on over 75,000 Tesla employees.

Now, through a notice posted by the office of the Maine Attorney General, Tesla revealed that the leak came from two former Tesla employees who violated its security and data protection policies via Bloomberg):

A foreign media outlet (named Handelsblatt) informed Tesla on May 10, 2023 that it had obtained Tesla confidential information. The investigation revealed that two former Tesla employees misappropriated the information in violation of Tesla’s IT security and data protection policies and shared it with the media outlet.
Without saying in which court, Tesla confirmed that it sued the former employees over the breach.

The company claims to also be working with law enforcement over the issue:
Tesla also obtained court orders that prohibit the former employees from further use, access, or dissemination of the data, subject to criminal penalties. Tesla cooperated with law enforcement and external forensics experts and will continue to take appropriate steps as necessary.
Other than employee data, the media publication claimed that it also had information confirming internal problems with Tesla’s self-driving technology and the Cybertruck, but not much came out of the report.

Tesla said that it offered 12 months of Experian’s IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity theft service to affected employees

What are laws and punishment like in the U.S. for these types of crimes? In Canada they are very lax you probably won't go to jail for fraud and the like. I feel like these leaks are planned well in advance meaning people get hired with the explicit intention of stealing data.

what's a magic dock? presumably an option to let non-teslas charge at a supercharger?

Depends. Do they have previous criminal records? Are they being prosecuted by the state or federal government? How determined is the prosecutor.

They probably have more to worry about being sued by Tesla. Also, they will probably not get hired again by any decent company. Their careers are pretty much over
