Derek Daly Academy, Here I come!
Just signed up for the 1-day Formula Race Car course at Derek Daly Performance Driving Academy in Las Vegas in January. Going to Vegas for CES and bringing the wife to see some shows, too, but now what I'm really excited about is driving the Nemesis Formula Ford cars on the road course at the LV Motor Speedway.
The cars only have 135 Hp, but also only weigh 1100 pounds and can get up to 1.35g laterally. The 1-day course includes some some classroom time, time to practice trailbraking and heel-toe downshifting, and a lot of lapping sessions in the Formula Fords. There is also time in a skid-car. It's a car (3-series BMW @ DDA) that sits in a rack with dolly-like wheels at all four corners. The rack has hydraulics that can lift, simulating a light front or rear end, and causing understeer or oversteer. See www.derekdaly.com. Oughta be fun!
