Interesting post. I've kept up with a lot of automotive inventions over the years, and I don't recall hearing about this one.

 

Really? I thought for sure you were going to school me on that one. If there's any CL member that would have known about this, I was sure it was you.

 

If I had heard of it, it was long enough ago that I had forgotten.

But I can probably understand why it was not put into production...a lot of extra weight and hardware in the drivetrain, extra cost for the automakers, and an added accident-hazard in traffic if not used properly. Plus, a lot of people tend to neglect the air pressure in their spare tires.
