i would keep the RX just for the space alone. add that it has the silky creamy v6 we all know and love, plus it's paid for! as already mentioned, the maintenance difference will be negligible.
there will always be a better car out there; learning to be content with what you have is also important! my $0.02 .

Yes. It's starting to make more sense as people talk me out of it
RAV4 doesn’t matter how fully loaded is still a cheaply made Toyota. It’s quite obvious if you step into one coming from a Lexus. The new car feeling will quickly wear off.
If you want lower running cost, trade it in for a Rx450h.
I traded in a 98 GS400 in 2004 for a new Toyota solara loaded xle v6 because it was good money on my GS and it did not take long to regret my decision. Ride and the quality of the Toyota to the Lexus is apples and oranges IMO..One of the biggest auto trades mistakes i did and i owned over 40 cars in my 50 years of driving. Don't do it!

Yes. I think everyone here helped make my mind up. Even on a Toyota forum the inputs were similar

I have owned many Toyotas. The reality is that Toyotas are cheaply made econoboxes. They may be a bit more reliable and last a bit longer than other mass production brands, but when it comes to comfort, noise, rattles-and-squeaks, etc. they are among the worst. Even an average Ford, Chevy or KIA has nicer interior, better ride and is more quiet. Replacing a Lexus with a Toyota would be a huge downgrade and you would be disappointed as soon as the new car smell wears off.

I've never own a Toyota, Hondas, Acuras and Lexus. Never Toyota, it is a good thing I asked around before making a choice because I was hesitant. Not so much anymore
Personally, I think you will be happier with a new NX than a new RAV-4....but avoid the old NX, which, IMO was disappointing and sub-par in several areas. And the Toyota Venza is an excellent alternative to the NX...essentially the same vehicle at a lower price, but also less of a warranty.
If you decide the new RAV4 is for you, fine, but IMO it is cheaply made, lacking in fit/finish and interior quality, and not terribly pleasant to drive. Its main asset is the reliability of its drivetrain.

Those 4 cylinders are no replacement for the smooth and silky V6

Yes, to a large extent, they are. The Venza's 2.5L hybrid four powertrain is smooth and refined. I have sampled it......and did an entire review on it.
