Yet another truck I could get behind. Loving these old truck photos. The styling of this one was pretty neat as is the interior. Just what you need for in a truck. Massaging seats and mood lighting just doesn't belong in a truck. At least to me. Lol
This is as simple as it gets and from what I hear they bring some money $$$ in good condition.
Maybe cuz people don't want to let them go.
My friend has one in almost mint condition and he jacked it up some and put some street/mud tires on it.
He's been driving that truck for as long as I've known him and it's a 4x4 with stick shift.
Oh, and BTW, he has a new Harley Electraglide but drives that old toyota truck for a daily. haha
Now that's priorities! Rite on.

That was because of the 25% tariff on Japanese trucks back then...to get around the tariff, Toyota shipped the frame/cab/powertrain assemblies and beds over in two separate assemblies on the cargo ship, and then welded the beds on here at the Toyota West Coast warehouse. As I understood it, they were crappy, low-quality welds, and even if you otherwise kept the truck clean and free of salt, the rust would quickly develop, with no practical way of stopping it.
This is a rather extreme case below, but clearly shows the general problem.
Time for a custom truck bed.
Might as well have some fum and make it a dump bed while they're at it.

Old Prelude? Always liked those even though they never sold well!

This was my first new car: an arrest me red 1996 Nissan 200SX SE with a 5speed. I really wanted a manual, but no one taught me how to drive one lol, so I did the next best thing: I made the salesman teach me in exchange for the sale! 😁
It was very comfortable and reliable and somewhat sporty (compared to my Toyotas before). Mad many trips from SF to LA with it and never had an issue. The only weird thing about it was when I put wheels on it, it would always pull left no matter what. Checked alignment and everything was ok. Put back in the stocks and all was ok.....just weird!
Back to this thread and trip down memory lane. My first real "performance" car was Nissans famed 4 door sport car, a 1996 Nissan Maxima GXE in automatic. I had driven the older Maxima SE and loved it for the power and upscale feel of it. Back then, 190hp was a lot of HP and the Maxima easily was the fastest out of the Japanese V6 car sedan offerings (and its Vq was a gem!). Loved the car as it was big, roomy, powerful, and was very good bang for the buck overall.

Yeah, not a good idea to buy a red car if you are young and have a lead foot, just begging to get pulled over and hassled. haha
Ps- sounds like the salesman earned his commission on that sale. lol
My first car was a stick shift and I learned to drive it on the way home but I was alone so I didn't scare anyone but myself.

For sure, Nissan was HUGE popular.
and, if need for speed they had the 240Z, 260ZX, 280ZX, 300ZX and I probably missed some ZX's but they were the hot cars to have too.
