Question for Canadians
I have a question for the canadians on the forum...
I am selling jet skis....I have them posted on craigslist. Why am I getting so many calls from canadian buyers? Are jet skis worth more up there? I cant figure it out. The exchange rate is not a huge factor. Is it a scam? Help!!!

Ont and Canada in general has a lot of water way life style , there are countless numbers of lakes and water ways here so i think its legit ..get a phone number make the call , and ask for a postal code and use google street to check out the address ..
If you get you money deposited to you account i dont see what you have to worry about ..

Ontario especially yea, Alberta from what I hear as well.
Also, everything is more expensive up here.
If you're really skeptical after you Google map, post up the address (probably be a bit nice and omit the purchasers name) and someone up here can tell you if it's sounding valid.

the exchange rate is a big factor. however,
part for part, if purchased in canada, the price will be higher. The market sets the higher price because consumers can handle the higher price. (biggest example are magazines, even after exchange rate, magazines cost more in canada than in US)
thus when exchange rates get closer and closer, US economy grows due to ppl visiting and spending in US.
the opposite happened when the exchange rate was far different. Canadian tourism was much higher with more US ppl visiting.

thanks for the replies guys...it seems legit...Some research
I looked up msrp's for similar model jet ski's on sea doos website:
canada = 16.5k
us = 13.2k
Seems like there is a huge difference in cost between the countries
i also looked up the exchange rate which isnt that big of a factor. 1:1.03 which is a cost savings for canadians of about $500 however when you factor in travel, etc....No real cost savings
The major contributor seems to be msrp and resale values up in Canada are higher. A lot higher. This could benefit me.
If anyone is willing to buy my jets in US and turn them for money let me know. I would assume 1k could possibly be made in the deal.
Obviously some travel would be required. Thanks again guys.
