Default RX350 winter tires

Hi all.

I got my wife a 2009 RX350 which comes with the 17" all season tires. I'm thinking of getting winter tires.

1. What's your opinion on winter tires on an AWD?

2. Could I downsize to 16" rims? And if so, are there any older model Lexus rims I could seek out that will fit?

3. Any deals?

Thanks!

You could step down but it is a waste of money.
Get a set of 17 snows and swap them around,
Get a set of aftermarket 17 or 18's for summer.

Why would going to 16's be a waste of money? The rubber and rims should both be cheaper ... no?

To go an buy 16 inch wheels and then tires are a waste as a good set of 17 inch snow tires cost less.
Buy a cheap set of aftermarket 17's for summer if you really want to have 2 sets.

depends on the brand of tire

generally 16's are cheaper than 17s, unless the 17's size is fairly popular, then u might luck out by pure competition on pricing for that size category.
