ok, so I think UberNoob's suggested crossing it REALLY REALLY FAR AWAY ... but what do other people think?

also, ppl coming from north WA, were any of you planning to join our drive to the outlets? (cause maybe that changes what crossing we use)

all it is is that we are going south east in canada on HWY 1 first instead of doing it on i5

this route gets on i5 at Bellingham instead of at Blaine

not really any extra distance travelled at all

after bellingham, we can also get off i5 to take #11 (Chuckanut drive) and go the scenic way for a really good cruise
or just stay on i5 for a speedy trip down to premium outlet

OK so meet me in Bellis Fair??? last time I went there was some road construction going on, so the roads were not the best, not bumpy, just lots of small stones which can chip your paint

I think I'm just going to take truck crossing, those guys at alder-whatever are so slow in handling my stuff, not to mention rude

thats true, the 2 canadian male custom officers at aldergrove are a bit rude
but its been ok lately

it is just a mere suggestion anyways, we can also use the truck crossing
or just stick with peace arch and wait it out

p.s. the pic in my signature was taken along the chuckanut drive
lots of twisties along a scenic route and lots of good oyster bars along the way followed by a nice stretch of straights on the south part of the chuckanut drive
http://www.chuckanutdrive.com/

chuckanut begins from a town south of bellingham
so regardless of what crossing we take, we can still go on the chuckanut if you guys feel like it
just dont excessively speed though, there are some blind corners along the twisties

i like the truck crossing ... however ... when we're coming down that highway that runs into the peace arch it'll have the wait times for both ... so there could always be a last minute decision

either way ... i think we need somewhere just south of the boarder to meet up & make sure no one got hauled in or anything ... & to meet anyone from northern WA ... so maybe not just south ... but a bit onto their side ... ya kno?

I'm always down for a WA trip, but depending on the weather and road conditions. It's getting pretty cold these days, roads were a little icy around my area this morning. If I go I'll definitely be taking truck crossing, there is a smaller line up and only one small speed bump.

sounds good to me. Maybe one meet in the off season and the other one as a local winding road trip in the summer.

well if we could set an annual thing more in the summer time, but i think that would be a cool idea, i think most of the other areas do big deal local meets annually

for THIS meet, i checked the alminac and it says weather around our meet will be mlid & wet ... how typically PNW hmm?

as for which crossing ... i thiknk lets do the truck crossing, & then we can go to the nearest starbucks on the other side ... i think it's in Ferndale,

from the sbux website:

Ferndale Haggens
1815 Main Street
Ferndale, WA 98248
360-312-8106

because, we're from vancouver, and like starbucks, and really, if i'm organizing a meet you can believe there will be a starbucks haha

Can we make part of this meet and or others to include an easy going swap meet. We all seem to go through buying and selling oem and aftermarket parts. You've already made a drive, get to see the parts in person and not have to pay rising shipping costs. Just an idea, if people like it post up your WTB list and sellers can bring it with them to the meet.

i like this idea! ... cause i want stuff haha, let's do 2 lists and i'll start them off here too ... we'll have a few lists running in this thread

WTB
Faymester (IS300) - Eibach Prokit

FS

^ so we'll cut and paste, add you name (and car, because that matters for this bit forsure) and what you want/have ... if you're selling maybe post up a price

let's try and not get all aggressive on items if more than one person wants the same thing ok? cool ... i'm thinking if stuff gets too heated we'll have to kill the swap idea, and i dont think any of us want that

we could meet up in lower mainland first (HomeDepot by Gilmore?)

then drive down thru pacific truck crossing
then meet up again with some WA folks in north west at a starbucks by Bellis Fair in Bellingham (approx half way to outlet)

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...h&z=14&iwloc=C

is this a good starbucks to meet? (sufficient parking?) ive never been to this one so if anyone knows, please do chine in

and if we do take the chuckanut drive, this is an approximation of our whole itinerary
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sadd...e=UTF8&t=h&z=9

here it is again but without the chuckanut drive section
