00 rx300

open road toyota down the street from me already said no because toyota corporate does not like it and will be very, very unhappy with them.

also i would lose the lexus service history, which her car has from day 1. it would affect the extended warranty the car has.

i still haven't done it yet. i'm already late on the schedule now but i've been so busy it's frustrating. furthermore, i have an intermittent check engline light that won't stay on long enough to scan

it's been difficult to get in touch with akira lately because he's go so much work at the shop these days. i'm thinking about asking calasecond if ken the mechanic (he used to work at netz toyota before he moved here from japan) has time to do it, but again i'm not sure if he will do it because he's the only one there who does mechanical work and it's a day's worth of labor for this service.

Hi all, sorry to bring the old thread back...
I've been going to different dealers for my regular services and they were only ok and for once or twice they stratched the paint from washing poorly...
Now my 2IS is due for a minor service and major recall (Spring Valve)...
Please share your opinions on the best service technicians in Vancouver or even the spring valve recall experience...

Thanks for your input!

well, of the 5 licenced techs at regency lexus, 4 of them are master techs... they do have a few lube guys and apprentices, but they all work within VERY close watch of a master tech... and the ratio of master tech to apprentice/lube guy is more than 1:1...

the service manager at regency is also a VERY picky guy...

ps... i USED to work at regency lexus, but now i'm strictly at the toyota store... so i know the guys pretty well... great group of guys in the shop...

my buddys parents used to go to richmond lexus, but have been going to regency for the last year with their RXh... and it's not kuz i'm part of regency kuz i don't work at that store... they were dis-satisfied with richmond's inability to diagnose a failed 12v battery on their vehicle... resulting in intermittent no starts with dead battery symptoms... all they had to do was load test it and they'd have found a failed battery... but they didn't...

thanks narfy for the fast reponse...
actually i did call regency and they said for the recall appointment, it has to be made at least one month in advance due to a very long list, I guess I'll just has to be patient...
Is there anyone I should talk to at Regency?
how's their attitute towards aftermarket parts??
I have some TSBs i want them to be fixed ( rattles, rear view mirror, etc....) I dont want they to say because you've done such and such so it's not covered by warranty anymore...

has anyone got the spring valve done already? any problems after? please share~
thanks

he can't do your recall...

him chang was a GREAT tech... great if u want him to do your out of warranty maintenance/repairs... but if your vehicle is still within warranty, you're better off getting your services done at a dealership to maintain your warranty...

i can't speak for our lexus shop, but my opinion is...

u won't notice a problem after the recall... it'll feel like nothing ever happened...

dave port is the service manager at lexus
sam panchal and kim truong are the service advisors... all of which are good...

book your appointment for your valve spring recall... this recall cannot be done by an apprentice, so chances are, there will be a master tech working on it... all the master techs at that store are REALLY GOOD... i would not hesitate for a moment to ask them to work on my own car...

when u come in, don't walk into a dealership service centre and think you know every tsb and how to fix every rattle... just tell them you got a rattle in so and so area, and tell them u looked online and think there may be a TSB...

attitude towards aftermarket parts? if it doesn't interfere with any work they are doing, and isn't the cause, or contributing cause to any work getting done under warranty, there shouldn't be a problem with it... example: if your engine is burning oil, and you have an aftermarket cold air intake with a cheepy cone filter on it, then they are likely not going to warranty your engine...

I just bought my car from jp lexus, everything was great for a week. I had them fix a ding on the 1/4 panel, and the y did it for no cost. Apparently they had a contract with a shop to do their bodywork. But i turns out that All jim pattison work is supposed to come to my bodyshop at craftsman collision, instead they took it somewhere else, and my bosses found out, so the dealer blamed me, and told my managers I told them not to go to my shop because it was old has bad techs and bad equipment... Anyway I got no crap from my managers since I said no such thing, They were just trying to cover their asses for going to a cheaper shop. Haven't been back there since....

like others here, i've brought my GS to regency for service since day 1. and i don't have to tell them NOT to wash my car, as they know better not to since i've told them once before. it helps when my car is different that the rest.
