this is just an addendum regarding the modified GS sitting at victoria auto sales in pt. moody. from the description in their ad and from what someone else said to me, i had thought it was a nice car... well i went to see it over the weekend and i couldn't have been more wrong
the carlsson wheels on them are badly curb rashed and scratched... there used to be a bodykit on it that looks like it had been ripped off and no cleanup was done.... i think the whole front bumper is held one with a ziptie. the car might have been black at one point, but it's mostly white now, and it's a bad respray at that... and they want $28k for it.
i kept wondering why it hasn't sold for the last 6 months/year... now i know why.

okay for those who have been asking for contact info for the private mechanic i've been going to:
akira ishii
rise performance
#158-11860 hammersmith way
richmond bc
v7a 5g1
sales@risejdm.com
www.risejdm.com

he just opened up the shop... the hoist is going in tomorrow, but he's almost ready to go.
he is licensed in bc for at least 10 years, and has worked as a mechanic for some time before that before he immigrated from japan. he used to work at japanese automotive in vancouver before starting up on his own.
he is able to both service and modify lexus, as well as other brands. at the $100/hr we all know lexus dealers charge locally, i saved almost $400 in the major service involving the timing belt and water pump going through him., he's done my coilovers and supra lsd with good results, which the dealer would not touch, as well as several of the other tuner shops locally. i've been holding back on buying daizen bushings until now because no one locally would do it, but he says he can and he's ordered a new industrial press so he can do my car.
so if you are like me, stuck not being able to do stuff like the daizen bushings, can't afford to a timing belt service, or considering a 2jz conversion... he's your man. so if you need work done, give him a shout and see if he's up to your standards... with our support hopefully he'll be successful and more established so that we can have a better lexus community locally, which is disappointingly small compared to other regions imo

haven't done it yet... the press is still on order.
the bushings came from tm engineering. i bought some used control arms to use as cores at the same time so i paid something like $500 after shipping.

I've been in contact with him to get my rotors replaced for the last while. He seems like a good guy, but unfortunately, his final price to replace the rotors came out to be same as the dealership, because his parts costs were insanely high. I think he tried to bring the price down by charging much less for labour, but still, I would have thought he could source OEM parts that didn't cost TWICE as much as the dealerships retail prices

ah
maybe its better if we ask him for the parts price before servicing
and get a quote from dealership on the parts too
and if parts at dealership is cheaper then buy it at dealership then take it to akira for servicing

i didn't know that. i buy all my oem parts from sewell and just get him to install. i think the local dealers only offer 14-15% discount to businesses, but sewell is as much as 40% less than the full retail they charge me here depending on what it is
