I picked up a '92 a few months ago. It has about 173,000 miles, automatic of course, runs and drives pretty good as is. My goal with this car is just to get it comfortable to drive every day. From the start is had a huge dent in the fender, signal lights not working, passenger window motor not working, check engine light on sometimes, leaking transmission pan, horrible paint and peeling in the clear coat, goofy chrome wheels, no current inspection, no stereo or speakers, filthy interior, busted up door panels, and so on haha. I don't mind getting vehicles that need a little work, I like to learn from the experiences. Besides, I traded a Nissan Hardbody that I got for free for it.















The previous owner decided to change the transmission filter and forgot to put a pan gasket when putting the pan back on. The first thing I did was put the gasket in and that stopped the fluid leak.





While I was lifting the car up I figured might as well put some different wheels on it.



A new (or used) fender would be a ridiculous amount to get shipped, I decided to try and pull the dents before making a purchase. First time using a slide hammer.



Not very experienced in doing body work or playing with body filler.

 

I liked my body work so much I started doing the rest of the car where it needed filler. I was sanding down the clear regardless.





After sanding, filling, sanding, cleaning, I took it to the back yard to mask off for a back yard paint job. (I know, so much wrong with that but I don't care.)




This was done with a quart of Rustoleum black and a harbor freight gun.





It rained the very next day. Luckily the paint had time to dry.





I like it this way much more than the way it was before. Now I know I can do even better if I want to try again.

I also added a stereo, speakers, changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires. I have some LRB door panels coming in so I'm most likely working in the interior again next. Tips and constructive criticism are always welcomed by me.

 

I love this!! That's a perfect candidate to learn some body work on and to give it the old "back yard spray job". It already looks a million times better. Welcome and looking forward to seeing more!

 

Wow! For a backyard paint job your SC400 came out looking really good! Overall your car needs TLC but it looks mostly complete and almost completely original apart from those quasi-AMG wheels, the missing stereo and a few interior pieces and passenger door panel that are missing.

You're well on your way getting the automatic transmission oil pan re-sealed and doing those spark plugs.

I'm also looking forward to more!

I did get my LRB door panels installed a couple of months ago. I ordered the set that utilized door speakers.












I haven't been tinkering with the car too much lately. I do want to get around to deep cleaning the carpet and wet sanding the paint.
I got an MKV Supra, so two "sort of" Supras on side each other.

 

Awesome combo of cars you got there man. Digging the door panels! I've always eyed them in case I go full race car lol.
