Default Installed Radar Detector Mirror Tap

I've had the Uniden R1 Radar Detector for about a week now and am SUPER happy about it's highway capabilities. As an avid computer nerd and wire-management geek, I purchased a wiretap online the same day I purchased the detector.

Took all of 10minutes to install the detector wiretap this afternoon!

Do you have instruction/diagram for the wiretap? I planned to install the dash cam and looked for a clean wires installation.

I purchased a wiretap kit off Amazon that had everything I needed. Some kits come with the default larger tap connectors AND the miniature ones. The miniature adapter on the kit that I purchased made it much easier to attach rather than jamming the large one in. (If you need a link to it, let me know I can get it when im home from work)

This Lexus IS install guide has pretty much everything you need. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post8709757

When looking down into the power connector, the bottom left is the main power, the next wire over is the ground. You can use a multimeter to check it just to be safe (you dont want to reverse them)

It's super easy to pop off the cover of the wiring for the mirror, dont force it, the top one slides down (toward the hood) and out, and the bottom one just gently pull the sides outward with your nails and it will come right off. Then reattach in the same fashion.

I just installed a Vantrue dashcam. I bought the OBD wire connection kit so that it has power when the car is off for it's monition detection feature. It involves no wire tapping and the wires were easily hidden in the panel trim.

Amazon Amazon
this is the mount bracket and mirror tap for a Uniden radar detector. The cable itself specifically fits the Uniden detector, so it may not fit your use case, but they have similar packages for other detectors. My only gripe is that the cable sleeve came out of the head of the connector. I simply had to put a little super glue in the RJ connector head and push the sleeve into it to guarantee it stayed in when pulling the cable out of the detector.

Default Interior Carbon Fiber Wrap

Spent yesterday wrapping a few interior pieces in 3M 1080 carbon fiber. I hate the fake fsport "carbon", and my shift **** had a tiny scratch in the silver so that got covered up as well.

The 3M wrap looks matte black carbon when in the dark or cloud cover which is a super nice look, and in direct sunlight it shines just enough to look great. Im super happy with the product. I may wrap the Lexus steering wheel emblem, the silver trim at the bottom of the steering wheel, and some other pieces from the center console when I have a warm day to do it.

Couple new additions to the car.

First are some interior decorations, got the rubber hockey puck cup holder inserts:

Then bought neck pillows and seat belt cushions (which are my favorite, keeps my dress shirt from getting wrinkled on the morning drive).

Then I decided today to try and wrap my front lip in gloss carbon fiber. The pics make it look really good, but there were quite a few bubbles and I ended up just rushing to get it looking decent with the intention of re-doing the wrap in the near future. My main goal was to just get something down there to protect the front lip from rocks. Everything else on my front bumper had a clear bra except for the front lip, made no sense.
