Been procrastinating about dealing with the battery for the last week but finally got around to it.
Theres a 300amp fuse mounted on the battery then the pwr wire routes along the passenger sill to the engine bay. Everything almost fits in the 12disc CD changer space within the trunk panel but its about 1" too long.
I have plans to make a larger ground strap, maybe a smaller dry cell battery, and a better tie down but this was what I had on hand so it will be used for a little while.

Welded and painted the exhaust manifolds as well as the first half of the downpipe.
Also finally purchased my megasquirt so wiring spaghetti can begin soon when that shows up.

Heres what I bought:
https://www.diyautotune.com/product/...-57-assembled/
I will be using an assembled Ms3x, i did consider the supra pnp but it was a bit more and I dont see the point if theres no need to keep the stock ecu plugs(since I'm adding Tundra COP's and removing a bunch of useless wires)

Heck yeah man that is looking NICE. Gotta be nice having the whole subframe out of the car for this stuff. Havent had that convenience since i did a full body off frame resto, engine build and swap and diy exhaust system in my old Chevy LUV 7ish years back

My guess is they did the 2 ignition systems because it allows for increased dwell time on the coils at higher rpm without creating too much heat and premature failure.
Also: always liked those little trucks

that was the logic behind coil on plug and those weird buick and ford multi coil systems wasnt it? More coils less load on each one. Makes sense but still strange in execution with the plug wires crossing over to the other bank. Each one running 1 cyl bank just seems more efficent
Either way i am looking forward to seeing that MS3X come together. Did you buy their 8' harness kits too or just the plugs and a lot of wire?
Yeah i miss that little luv but i didnt miss the stock 80hp 1.8L and 4 speed AT ALL once i swapped for a mild 4.3 Chevy v6 and a 5 speed. Truck was only 2460 lbs with that 4.3 and the alum 5 speed. it was a lil ripper i had to throw some 30x9.5 a/t's on the back to keep traction. The lil 195/75r14s it came with were comically undersized for that much torque
now there is a good idea. The dual distributors is a weird setup and would be a pain to tune. Seems like they started with a pair of dohc 2.0s with that ignition and rolled with it when they made it a v8..

Ended up going with the 8' harness so that my wiring expertice will come into play less.
