I originally started this build with the intention of tracking on air suspension. However, the more seat time I get, the harder it is for me to justify (something about Miatas and S2000s flying by me mid corner that brings out my competitive side). Until Airlift decides to make struts for this car, I've decided to go back to a true coilover system for the time being. Air suspension definitely does handle well and has come a long way from when I first found out about it but for heavy track use, it's not quite there yet.
For the real fun - what I currently have in the works:
TOMS suspension bracing: Got these recently from good ol Josh from Meraki! Car feels so different - like night and day to me personally. It makes the F feel more nimble and responsive and I can't wait to pair it with my suspension upgrade.
CKS coilovers + Swift Upgrade + Air Cups (Photo courtesy Louie): I'm not quite done with air just yet! My driveway is pretty nasty so I need some form of height adjustment so I decided to go with cups. Performance/reliability of a coilover setup with the height adjustment of air. Planning to order these from Louie soon.
Alpheyga Front Splitter: Found out about this through Ray and talked to Alpheyga about purchasing one. They're in the final stages of releasing this.
Voltex Type-7 Swan Neck: Ordered this and will have a friend's shop fabricate custom base plates + reinforcement plate for this. The goal is to retain the active wing and mount it on the non-active portion of the trunk.
StudioRSR Rollcage in a few months? EL headers will wait until after labor day as I really want out these new mods at Laguna Seca!
I'll get you pics of the cage tomorrow most likely. My friends are coming back from SoCal tonight!
We have to cut the swan neck portion of the Voltex wing because it's a little too long. If I mount it on the non-active it'll hit the rear window when I try to open the trunk. End plate fabrication soon along with reinforcement plate.
My air cups are currently back ordered but Lou just told me they should arrive next week!
Went ahead and ceramic coated the wheels this weekend also
Not too many updates but got some of the goodies installed.
Slapped on the TE037 6061 wheels and my new suspension setup: CKS Coils + Swift Springs + StanceParts Cup Kit. Installed FIGS camber arms in the rear also. Still working on getting it dialed in completely for track but Mingofish has been a huge help!
Bags were great for overall use but they're not gonna be as good as a solid coilover system on the track which was my reason for switching. Paired with USRS/Toms Bracing, there's no such thing as body roll and I can take corners with an insane amount of confidence (partly due to R888R too).
Unfortunately, even after cutting some liner in the rear, there simply isn't enough room to fit the cup kit so I only have front adjustments. Pray for my Artisan diffuser when it gets installed LOL
Next line of business is hunting down a RC350 trunk so I can mount that Voltex swan neck on it.
Aside from that, just working out some minor rubbing issues in the front of rear because the tires are super meaty. Gonna have to shave the rears a tad bit on the inside and in the fronts, I'll have to heat/bend/hammer in an inner tab.
Next track day will be 8/25 at Thunderhill West so I'll give this car a good shakedown and let you guys know how it goes!
You didn’t tell me rear cup kit didn’t get installed. Huge bummer.
Is it the cups too big to fit where it bolts up to the shock tower? Or just not enough travel on the threaded body to accommodate the extra distance?
Envious of your cups even if just fronts. Scraped up my Tom’s front lip other day...
Any NVH from the front end due to all those extra parts?
Just buy a new trunk deck since you have the wing already!
I have the deck but gotta wait who knows how long for my voltex to show up. Sigh..

Oh I thought I told you LOL. Yeah, the rear cup kit is too wide. We're already at minimal space using a true coil system in the rear. We couldn't get the strut to line up and bolt properly. All good though - I just kept two cups as backup in case I have any issues or any of my friends want to cup their fronts.
Shoot sorry to hear about the lip! No extra NVH in the front - it's just a cup that fits over the coil so not too much up there.
There's a guy local who has a RC350 trunk for sale for $350 but he hasn't replied with photos yet so waiting on that!
Yeah Ming, probably doesn't help that SEMA is around the corner and Voltex is a smaller shop
Been MIA for a bit - combination of forums being a bit dead + laziness
Here's what I got in the works:
Voltex Type 7 Swan Neck: Purchased the RC350 trunk and had ArtecFab in San Carlos fabricate me these base plates. They're also reinforcing the interior portion of the trunk to make sure it holds up without issues on the track.
Alpheyga Front Splitter: Purchased the first batch of Alpheyga front diffuser from an earlier post. It's expected to be done in 3-5 weeks from now which I'll be paint matching. Hoping to get it soon!
Changed brake caliper color to white because I was getting a little bored of the yellow.
Also seriously considering the hood vents from slickcarbon! I wouldn't mold it though as I've heard that with the molding material, it can weaken over time so I'd rather have them just bolted on.
I'll update this when the trunk gets painted and the wing gets clear coated. Should be on the car in a few weeks!
