The "2JZX" Project
#61
Sorry to hear this project won't go through but with an offer like that and a long term goal of owning an R35 I think you made a great choice. Just do your research on the GTR's BorgWarner DCT transmission and make sure the previous owner took care of it
Since you have already come so far with your 2JZ turbo engine build you could still find a good home for it in another interesting chassis when you're ready. There are so many options.
When you've locked in your GTR I hope you'll give us a peek here in your thread!
By the way, I think I've seen you on the MKV forums. You've no interest in the MKV in a year?

Thanks! It is a good thing I didn't start bashing in firewalls and panels on the Z....the guy who bought from me is a Z collector and was amazed at how clean and well preserved the car was. I honestly didn't feel right about changing anything on the 300ZX, it really was a clean example.

So, I just purchased a 2019 STI (Crystal White Pearl) last week, and took delivery of the car yesterday (dealer swap). This will be my first Subaru, and keeping fingers crossed everything stays kosher with the car (reliability, etc...). Very happy with the purchase and dealership process. Apparently, the 2019 and 2020 STI's get the Type RA motors (stronger internals) so I am pretty excited about that. I needed a new daily as my 4Runner has become a gas guzzler and no up-to-date creature comforts. This purchase does not affect my goal of getting my dream car... ;-)

Here is some info about the differences between the older STI's and RA internals I found online....pretty excited about this:

^^ Both RA pistons and rods look improved a bit. Probably still not the same as aftermarket lightweight forged rods and pistons but any strength improvement is welcome improvement. As old as the EJ engine is I love seeing Subaru make it more stout in factory trim. Do the USDM STI EJ257's now all come with dual AVCS or is that just a feature of the JDM EJ207 STI engine?
